(a) The compressors used in LG Refrigerators are manufactured by three different factories at Pune,
Nasik, and Nagpur. If it is known that Pune factory produces twice as many compressors as in the
Nasik one. Also, Nagpur produces the same number as to Nasik (during the same period). Experience
shows that 0.2% of the compressor produced at the Pune as well as Nasik factory are defective. Also,
if 0.4% of the compressors produced at the Nagpur factory are defective then

(i) What will be the probability of compressors produced by Pune factory?

(ii) What is the total probability of producing a defective compressor from any of the
factory?

(iii) A quality controller visits LG compressor factory and finds it a defective one. What is
the probability that it was produced at Nasik factory?

(b) The Zara Nursery sales three types of imported flower seeds of Vinka, Petunia, and Oleander.
They are sold as a mixture, where the proportions are 4 : 4 : 2. The germination rates of Pinka,
Petunia and Oleander are 45%, 60%, and 35% respectively.

(i) If E1, E2, and E3 denote the seeds of Vinca, Petunia and Oleander also A denotes the
seed germinates, then find the probability that the seed of Oleander germinates.

(ii) Find the total probability that imported seed germinates.

(iii) Calculate the probability that the chosen seed is of Petunia given that a randomly
chosen seed does not germinate?

Problem and determine the maximum distance that the man can travel.
