The Striped Heart Block is a free block pattern that can be used for a wide variety of Valentine’s
Day projects. The pattern includes full sized FPP templates for four block sizes – approx. 4”, 6”, 8”
& 10” square.

The Striped Heart Block has been designed to be scrappy block pattern and small amounts of
fabric are required to complete the block – choose the fabrics your heart desires!

All four block sizes are foundation paper pieced in the same manner.

Please read all instructions carefully before proceeding with this project. A ¼” seam allowance
has been added to all measurements.

A colouring sheet has been included with this pattern to assist in fabric/colour selection prior to
piecing your Striped Heart Blocks.

When printing the design sheets, ensure your printer settings are set to “none” or “actual
size” in the page scaling panel to ensure accuracy of printing.

The approximate finished size of each block can be found at the top of the design sheets.

Templates for the 8” and 10” block will need to be joined with tape or glue prior to piecing
the blocks.

Print copies straight from your printer- do not photocopy pages as this will reduce the size
of the templates just slightly.

1. Print the Striped Heart Colouring Sheet and plan the placement of your chosen fabrics or
colours.

2. Decide which block size you would like to sew and find the corresponding Striped Heart
Design Sheet/s included in this pattern.

Please Note: The design sheets include shaded colours of the fabrics I used
to make my Striped Heart Blocks. They can be used as a guide for your
colour placement, but you’ll still be able to write in your alternate colours if
you wish.

3. If you have chosen to sew the 8” or 10” Striped Heart Block, the templates have been
spread out over two sheets. Join the templates together with tape or glue prior to sewing
your block.

4. Cut around the templates, about ¼” from the outer cutting lines. I found it easier to label the
colour placement on the paper templates prior to piecing. (don’t forget, you are working
in reverse.)

5. Paper piece sections A1 – A10 in your chosen fabrics to complete your Striped Heart
Block.
