DM high protein diet

Early morning
6:00 – 7: 00 am ● Tea/coffee

● 2 biscuits

Breakfast
8 :00 - 9:00 am ● Milk – 1cup (as per the fluid restriction)/ 1 katori Curd
● suji / oats/ dalia/ wheat flakes/ bread slice-2/ 2 small
chapati
● Egg white-3/ paneer (50 gms)/ 2 besan cheela
● 2 tsp sugar
● 1 tsp oil/ ghee/ white butter

Mid-morning
10:00 – 11:00 am ● Fruits (100gms)

Lunch ● 2 Chapati or
1:00 – 2:00 pm 1 chapati + Rice-1 Bowl/ Sago Khichdi – 1 katori
● Vegetables – 1 katori
● Dal – 1 katorie(125gms)
● Curd 1 katori
● 2 tsp oil

Evening time
4.00 – 5:00 pm ● 1 cup Tea/Coffee
● 2 Biscuits/ Murmura chaat/ sago preprations/
popcorn (w/o butter and salt)

6.00pm – 7:00 pm ● 1 Besan Cheela/ 2 pc. Besan dhokla/ 1 egg white/ 4


pc (30 gms) paneer

Dinner ● Same as lunch


8:00 – 9:00 pm ● Instead of dal take paneer(50gm) or Fish/ Chicken
(100 gms- once a week)

Bed Time (not with Dinner) ● Milk- 1 cup (as per fluid restriction)
Points to be kept in mind:

● give a meal in every two hours.


● Don’t skip meals rather have small frequent meals.
● Avoid fasting and feasting
● daily physical activity of 45mins is necessary.
● Add more soluble fibre in your diet.

Foods allowed -

● Egg white, chicken, fish once a week.


● garlic ,onion,methi seeds, flax seeds help to reduce the cholesterol level
hence balance the sugar levels too.
● 2 walnuts and 6 almonds are enough for a day.

Foods to be restricted ​–

● Butter, cheese, cream, ghee, whole milk, coconut oil and fried foods
● Organ meats, Red meat, shellfish, prawn, lobster.
● Vegetables – potatoes,sweet potatoes, arbi,yam.
● Fruit juices, coca cola/pepsi/fanta and other aerated drinks, squashes.
● fruits like mango,litchi, cheeku,grapes,banana, custard apple
● Bakery products – cakes, pastries.
● Papad, pickles, processed and packaged foods.
● an excess amount of dry fruits should be avoided.
● Reheating of oil.
