HOW TO RAISE CHILDREN IN RIGHT MANNER

Actions really do speak louder than words. Parental role modelling helps teach children to be
caring and kind. Good manners need to be taught. And teaching your children manners gives
them lifelong survival skills.

 Be a role model
When you want your child to show good manners and respect, you must also practice
good manners and respect. Say please and thank you, admit your mistakes, apologize, and
treat people, in general, with kindness and respect.
 Start small and expand on rules
Learning is gradual. Don't expect it all to come together in a snap.
 Share
Share with your child so they understand the importance of sharing with others.
Compliment them when you see them sharing with others.
 Keep kids healthy.
Children tend to behave badly when they're tired or hungry. Kids need sleep and
nutritious foods to survive. It's that simple.
 Give reminders and reinforcement
If your child backslides, offer a gentle reminder. Children need positive
reinforcement, so let your child know when you think the child has done a great job.
 Ignore poor behaviour; reward good performances instead
Praise is a wonderful teacher. Tell your children how proud you are when you notice
them being polite.
 Be clear and consistent; explain why
Make sure any punishment fits the offense.
