3.2.4 Detect PC and device communication status

Please Use the Annex assigned cable connect the Device RS232 port and PC RS232
port. Then switch on the Repeater power and wait about 1 minute. And entering parameter
configuration interface, first query the site number to detect PC and repeater
communication status. After everything is normal you can query the repeater work status
and set it work parameter through the software.
Select “Network parameter” tab, check the “Site number” check box only, Click the "query"
button, it should be able to successfully query the Site NO. within 30 seconds, if not
successfully query, then click "Query" button then wait 30 seconds, if three consecutive times
without success, wire connection problem, after exclusion of this problem and try again should
succeed. Testing Donor unit, select the host icon(place1) in the upper left side software

3.2.5 Downlink Input Power Query

After querying number successfully, detect the downlink input power. As shown in Figure
3-9.

Figure 3-9
Select “working parameter” tab, select the check box of the “DL input power”, then click
"Query" button, it should be able to return to the downlink input power value in the 30 seconds.
The value should >-85dBm. (Preferably> -60dBm). When using instruments to measure the
local source signal strength> -85dBm, if this measure value <-85dBm maybe have the following
problems: 1. Donor antenna is not aligned with the direction of the base of the station . Please
adjust the direction of the donor antenna, aligned with the base station . 2.Donnor antenna is
no good contact. Through the instrument or software testing Donnor antenna ‘s VSWR if

normal. Exclude this possible. 3. The length of the feeder between the antenna and the device
is too long. The proposal does not exceed 30 m length.

3.2.6 Monitor The Downlink Output Power

Select the check box of the “DL output power”, then click "Query" button, it should be able
to return to the downlink output power value in the 30 seconds. As shown in figure 3-10, The
unit of query result is: dBm. The value should >30dBm. When the input power>-60dBm, if the
detected value <30, maybe have the following problems: Have set ATT too much, please
release ATT.

Figure 3-10 Query Downlink Output Power

Cautions:
Repeater comes with power detection function, without spectrum analyzer and other
equipment can be relatively accurately measure the uplink and downlink power. The downlink
input and output power is be detected actually. Uplink output power due to the general case will
be relatively small and is burst signal, the power value be queried may be an indeterminate
value.

3.2.7 Adjust the Uplink and Downlink Gain

Before setting the uplink and downlink attenuation values, it is best to perform query
operations uplink and downlink attenuation value, to provide data reference for the next
setting.( The greater the attenuation values is, the lower the gain is).
To set up the uplink and downlink attenuation value, firstly select the check boxes of “UL
ATT value” and “DL ATT value” on “parameter settings” tab, and then input attenuation value in
the "Set value" column after the "UL ATT value" and "DL ATT value"(As shown in Figure 3-11),
then click the "Set" button.(Unit of attenuation value is: dB)

Figure 3-11

Adjusted Downlink Attenuation Values

According to querying results of "downlink output power", adjusted downlink attenuation
values. If the output power is high, then increase in downlink attenuation values, if the
output power is low, and then reduce downlink attenuation values. Output power relate to
power level of equipment and the base station carrier frequency number. For example: When a
set of 10W Repeater work with a set of four carrier frequency base station, when the
four-carrier frequency are all working, Repeater output power is the maximum——10W, if
only one carrier frequency is working, the results of the query should be 2.5W——34dBm, if it is
higher than this number should increase downlink attenuation values.
Factory settings: The downlink attenuation value is 0dB.
Adjust Uplink Attenuation Values
After the Repeater power on, check whether the uplink signal interfere with the base
station signals, if so, increase in uplink attenuation values. Test Call quality in not interfere with
the base station, if the call is not good, you can try to reduce the uplink attenuation value to
increase the uplink receiver sensitivity. The premise is not interfering base station.
Factory settings: The uplink attenuation value is 0dB.

3.2.9 Open Remote Monitor Function

1. Power off the Repeater, press the SIM button beside the card using Tip shaped articles,
eject the SIM card holder, put the SIM card into the holder correctly and then push it into SMS
MODEM smoothly.
2. Power on the Repeater, use software to set the “Query/Set Tel numbers”, “Report Tel
number” locally(Ensure that the SIM card can the normal send and receive SMS, if necessary,
please put the card in the mobile phone testing to confirm, the SMS modem has been test
before leaving the factory),As show in figure 3-13.

Figure 3-13
Note:
There are five groups of Query/Set number, These five groups of numbers can query
and set the operating parameters and state of the Repeater, The five groups can be all
set, you can also set only a few of them. Alarm information will report to the “Report Tel
number” when the equipment has alarm information. “Query/Set number” and “Report
Tel number” can be the same. The SIM cards of above numbers must be inserted in the
SMS MODEM supplied by Our Company. The SMS MODEM must be connected with our
monitor center software before being used normally.
3. When building new site, shall ensure that "the monitoring center software" site number,
Site Device number, Telephone number are the same as these parameters in repeater, if they
are not consistent, it will lead to communication failure.
4. The completion of the above operations, the monitoring center can perform remote query,
setting and alarm test for the repeater.

3.2.10 Monitoring center monitor repeater with SMS

Connect the “SMS MODEM” to the serial interface (RS232) of computer, Open monitor
software “ Repeater Soft.exe”.
Select menu “Communication”—“Communication Config”, pop up the window as shown in
figure3-13,”Communication Style” item select ”GSM SMS”, Port item select correct RS232 port.
Click “Confirm”.
When create new site in monitor software, must make sure that enter the SIM card number
of “SMS MODEM” in Repeater to the “telephone number” in “site information”, if no, need to
create new site in software.

The following, you can query the repeater working state and set repeater parameter
through the method introduced above.
Note: According to the Remote monitor, because the message response required
longer time, So the operation response speed will slow than a local monitoring, waiting 50
seconds from the start time of the operation, if not normal receives the response of
equipment, the software will prompt that “operation failed”, need to re-operation. If unable
to normal operation all the time, please check that the two SMS MODEM of equipment and
the monitor center are working properly, the communication parameters are configured
properly, and the communication parameters are configured properly?

3.2.11 the Monitor Backup Battery Connection

There is a spare battery for monitoring inside the equipment, in order to ensure reporting
monitoring information after the equipment is power off. Before the equipment out of the factory,
in order to prevent excessive battery discharge so it has been disconnected. It should be
properly connected when opening the Repeater.

3.2.12 Modem Status Indicator

LED Not light:Modem shutdown, Modem without power supply.
LED Light: Modem is switched on, Modem is power on, But not inserted SIM card or SIM
card is not inserted correctly or antenna and no good。
LED Slow flash: Equipment power off, The idle mode(When sending SMS)。
