CHANDRAYAAN-3 PARAPHRASE WRITING

In a highly competitive race to explore the secrets of the cosmos, A country in the southern
region of the Asian continent, India has achieved a milestone unlike any other country in the
world by landing it’s Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the south pole of the moon’s surface on
August,23rd,2023. It is the fourth and only country among its predecessors USA, Soviet Union
and China to successfully achieve this outstanding accomplishment.
India stands out in the space race due to a very complex feat, “soft landing.” Chandrayan-3 was
launched into an orbit around the Earth at an altitude of 179 Km on July 14 th. It progressively
increased the orbit by performing a series of manouveres one by one to elude the gravitational
pull of the planet. As the spacecraft made it’s way towards the moon, it performed another
series of calculated manouveres until it entered a 100 by 100 circular orbit around the moon. In
the next phase, the lander, which carries the rover, abandoned the propulsion and begun began
preparing for the final descent. In a strictly monitored and manually controlled approach, the
aircraft attempted to gently land on the lunar surface with zero damage. The hectic, yet fruitful
procedure took almost 42 days to complete. In the past, spacecrafts have only landed in the
region near the moon’s equator due to unprecedented and potentially dangerous conditions
that exist in other regions. All the more reason, this mission is a commendable one, India is
unique when it comes to achieving a soft landing on the southern lunar pole. On August 24 th of
2023, ISRO released a video of the landing on X (formerly known as Twitter).
The predecessor of the famous Chandrayaan-3, the Chandrayaan-2 failed to complete it’s due
mission. It is expected that the new spacecraft will continue what had started. The purpose of
the mission is to showcase end to end capability and roving on the lunar surface. The rover is a
small vehicle carried within the lander in a spacecraft. The vehicles mission is to move around
exploring the surface of other planets. The lander on the other hand, is equipped with solar
panels on 4 of it’s sides, reducing any chances of power failure in case the lander travels in the
wrong direction or tumbles over on one of it’s sides. The chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was loaded
with specific instruments and tests, more specifically called “payload.” These instruments and
tests are expected to perform calculations, observations and execution of experiments. The
results are then sent back to planet earth for scientists to analyse and darw conclusions based
on the gathered data. Back, in the year 2019, Rovers from both Israel and India (referring to
Chandrayaan-2) plummeted into the lunar surface, destroying space rovers from both Japan and
UAE.

To summarize In summary, india has claimed it’s victorious fourth position in an ongoing race for space
and yet it is the first in line for the many exciting space exploration opportunities that will
come along. The Chandrayaan-3 mission has managed to complete what it’s former space-craft
failed trying. As the chief of ISRO stated, this was a more failure redemption mission than a
success based one. Rightfully so the world is a witness to it.
