TEST
The electrical resistance of all 3 specimens was measured over a length of
100 mm, prior to the environmental tests.
The specimens are placed in the salt mist chamber and sprayed for a period of
2 hours at a temperature of 25 oC. At the end of the spraying period, the specimens
transferred to the humidity chamber and stored at a temperature of 40 oC and a relative
humidity of 95 oC for 22 hours.
After that, the specimens complying with salt mist treatment were subjected to
humid sulphurous atmosphere treatment. The cabinet is filled with demineralized water.
The specimens are placed in position and the cabinet is closed. The sulfur dioxide
entrains into the cabinet through the inlet pipe. The test machine is programmed to
raise the temperature in the cabinet at 40 oC gradually in a period of one hour and a
half.
The test duration is 7 cycles. Each cycle lasted 24 hours and consisted by 8
hours in the cabinet and 16 hours in the ambient atmosphere at a temperature of
24 oC and relative humidity 58%.
The electrical resistance of all 3 specimens was measured again, over a length
of 100 mm, after the environmental tests.
Severity of the
test (2): • Three salt mist spray periods duration two (2) hours
• Three Storage periods in humid chamber for 22 hours
The methodology used for the tensile strength [Rm] tests is complying with ISO
6892-1. Specimens 177d, 177e, 177f were tested un-machined as per D.1 of ISO 6892-
1:2009.
