UX/ UI Case Study

Application for yoga practice.

Train wherever and whenever you want.

Background
The present times are characterized by a fast pace of life and over-stimulation. People live in a rush, with little time for rest
and rejuvenation. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing number of individuals have started to isolate
themselves and fall into depression. To counteract this, many people have begun to practice yoga, meditation, and gratitude.

One of the research journals (National Library of Medicine) conducted a study titled 'Exploring the therapeutic effects of yoga
and its ability to increase quality of life,' which demonstrated that yoga promotes relaxation by encouraging individuals to
slow down their breath, stay present, reduce both breathing and heart rates, lower blood pressure, and decrease cortisol
levels.

Another research prepared by BioPsychoSocial Medicine evealed that participants who regularly practiced yoga for an
extended period noticed increasing positive emotions, relieving, reducing pain, increasing positive personality traits, sleep
quality and self-esteem.

Project Overview
Description
Yogily is an application for yoga practice. It offers a wide selection of workouts from beginner to advance level. Everybody can
choose something for themselves and train wherever and whenever they want. The biggest advantage is that the application
automatically , so it’s completely safe. The only thing the user has to do is fill out a short survey after installing the application.

Problem Statement
Nowadays, people experience a lot of stress, lead a fast-paced and not exactly healthy lifestyle. They don't have time for
physical activity and don't care about their fitness. In addition, daily responsibilities overwhelm them mentally, and they have
no time to rest. For these reasons, they are looking for a way to stay fit and de-stress, with little excess time and money.
The Solution: Goal of the project

Jogily app was created to allow anyone to work out anywhere and anytime at an affordable price. In addition to physical

activity, the app offers breathing workouts, meditations and practices to help lower stress levels. This app focus on every user’s

needs individually by offering custom training plan and assists in cultivating healthy habits by providing guidance throughout

their yoga and meditation journey.

User Research
Survey
I conducted an online survey targeting individuals currently engaged in or with past experience in practicing yoga. The objective was to gain a
comprehensive understanding of authentic user experiences, identify pain points, and understand their desires and requirements. The analysis of the
collected data, facilitated through Google Forms, yielded valuable insights.

The survey consisted of 11 questions, and gathered total of 35 responses from people falling under age between 20 and more than 50 years old. The questions
and responses can be found in the charts and diagrams below:

Insights
This survey helped me understand who my target users are, what problems, frustrations, and needs they have. I also received information on the percentage
of respondents who would be interested in using a yoga practice app and what features it should have to make them willing to use it. I learned about the
aspects that users did not like in the training apps they had used before, providing me with a reference point for potential improvements in the Yogily app.

Analyzing the feedback regarding motivational factors and the goals users aim to achieve through yoga practice inspired me to devise optimal solutions for
their challenges. The survey has laid the groundwork for my forthcoming actions in the design process of Yogily.
Competitor analysis
I conducted a Competitor Analysis on several existing yoga apps to understand their functionality in the market and the
issues they aim to address. A comprehensive examination helped me identify features to incorporate, evaluating the pros and
cons of specific elements, and, most crucially, provided insights into successful design patterns that resonate with users.

Summary
This was my first project as a UX/UI designer which I would like to use in my portfolio. I have to admit that
it was a challenge to handle such a detailed project by myself but I really enjoyed a whole process. Of
course I learned a lot and my goal is to do even better in the future.

Overcoming obstacles began with the research phase, in which my goal was to deeply understand users
- their frustrations, needs and desires. This project highlighted how crucial it is to set aside preconceived
assumptions. Instead, it emphasized the value of active engagement with users to shape a more refined
and improved experience for them.

What I have learned

To bring out your best as a designer while crafting an experience, it's crucial to thoroughly grasp the
concept you're working on
A well-executed research phase not only speeds up idea generation but also ensures the creation of
valid and effective concepts
I acquired proficiency in various new tools
While feedback holds value, holding onto your belief in your ideas is equally important; don't easily
give up on them
Juggling too many tasks can lead to chaos; constraints play a pivotal role in maintaining focus
Burning yourself out is counterproductive; taking breaks and approaching challenges with a fresh
mind often yields better results.
