Casino Services LV Depot Repair and Casino Services Technical Product Support
Revision A - July 22, 2011; Changed the title of the document and added procedures for clearing CMOS on AVP 2.5 and 3.0
Preface
AVP Processor boards have been seen coming through Depot Repair with non-specific errors occurring that can
be corrected by either reseating the RAM Sticks or resetting the CMOS to factory defaults.

Procedures for Checking On-Board RAM on AVP 2.0

1. Insure that a PS-2 keyboard is plugged into the motherboard and turn on the machine. See Figure 1.

Figure 1
2. When the AVP Splash appears on screen, hit the escape key on the keyboard to stop the on-board auto
RAM check in the boot sequence and immediately hit Delete key on the keyboard.
3. The screen will blank out momentarily and the BIOS screen will appear with a text box prompting the
entry of the password. See Figure 2.

Figure 2
4. Enter the password; “sevens” and hit the Enter key.
5. The BIOS Setup Utility screen will appear.
6. Go to Standard CMOS Features. Figure 3

8. If the Extended Memory values do not match the values of the installed memory:
a. Turn off the machine.
b. Observe all ESD precautions by using your ESD wrist strap.
c. Remove the Brain Box

d. Remove the top cover of the Brain Box
e. Remove the mass storage caddy. ( The assembly containing the hard drive and DVDROM
player) If needed, disconnect the ribbon cable and power harnessing from the mass storage
assembly and set it aside.
f. Remove the RAM stick(s).
g. Inspect the RAM socket(s) for foreign matter that might be in the bottom of the socket that could
either prevent the RAM stick from seating 100% into the socket or short out the socket. Remove
the foreign matter as needed.
h. Reinstall the RAM stick(s). Be sure that they are completely seated into the socket(s)
i. Reconnect and install the mass storage caddy.
j. Put the top cover on the Brain Box.
k. Install the Brain Box
l. Turn on the machine and repeat Steps 1 through 7.
9. If the correct RAM values still do not appear correct, replace the RAM stick(s) and repeat Step 8.
10. Proceed with Step 11 if the values are correct or go to Step 12 if the values are still not correct.
11. If the RAM values are correct:
a. Proceed with game restoration by hitting F10.
b. At the prompt, hit enter. See Figure 5.

Figure 5
c. The machine will now auto restart. Proceed with game restoration and options setups as needed.
d. If the tilt repeats troubleshoot the machine and repair as needed.

12. If the amount of RAM installed still doesn’t match the values seen on screen, a complete CMOS clear to
refresh the values can be attempted with the following steps:
a. Turn off the machine.
b. Observe all ESD precautions by using your ESD wrist strap.
c. Remove the Brain Box
d. Remove the top cover of the Brain Box
e. Remove the mass storage caddy. ( The assembly containing the hard drive and DVD ROM
player) If needed, disconnect the ribbon cable and power harnessing from the mass storage
assembly and set it aside.
f. Clear CMOS by moving jumper located directly above PORT 80.

h. When complete, restore the Brain Box, game and retest with Steps 1 through 7.

If these procedures fail to restore the correct amount of RAM seen in the Brain Box, replace the processor
board.

AVP 2.5 CMOS Clearing

All procedures for RAM checks apply as seen in the proceeding AVP 2.0 instructions using a USB keyboard.
All ESD precautions apply
AVP 2.5 uses the same BIOS Passwords as 2.0

1. The CMOS Jumper is at J/P 10. See figure 8 on the next page.
2. Move the jumper to pins 2 & 3 and leave in place for 30 seconds.
3. After 30 seconds, move the jumper back to its normal position across pins 1 & 2. CMOS has been
cleared.
4. Install the Brain Box
5. Power on the machine and when the machine is booting, enter the BIOS and select “Load Optimized
Defaults”.
6. Hit F10 to save and exit.
7. Proceed with game restoration

AVP 3.0 CMOS Clearing

All procedures for RAM checks apply as seen in the proceeding AVP 2.0 instructions using a USB keyboard.
All ESD precautions apply
AVP 3.0 uses the same BIOS Password as 2.0 and 2.5.

1. The CMOS Jumper is at J/P4. See figure 9 on the next page.

2. The hard drive will have to be removed to access J/P 4.
3. Move the jumper to pins 2 & 3 and leave in place for 30 seconds.
4. After 30 seconds, move the jumper back to its normal position across pins 1 & 2. CMOS has been
cleared Install the Brain Box
