JOB TITLE: IT Specialist Function Manager - Software developer

DEPARTMENT: Business Development

RESPONSIBLE TO: Business Development Group Manager – Business

applications and projects

SALARY: Job Level E

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Acting as a senior team member in the development, maintenance and
support of the ICO’s key business applications and systems.

The use of technology and IT provision at the ICO may evolve as new
needs are identified. Flexibility over time to adjust to these changes is
therefore an integral aspect of the role.

KEY OUTCOMES OF THE ROLE

 Key business applications developed to meet user and business
needs.
 Significant contributions to the overall direction and technical
evolution of the MS business application platform.
 Act as a senior team member or lead in a technology related
specialism.
 Ensure deliverables achieve the stated business requirements and
are delivered on time.
 As necessary:
o Liaise with ICO managers and staff to determine business
needs or coordinate projects/change.
o Manage external relationships with suppliers, key stakeholders
and others as appropriate.
o Contribute to the strategic development of MS business
application platforms
o Work in a project team to implement technical solutions
through design, analysis, application development or
configuration.
o Produce all documentation required of the role e.g. user
stories, designs, release notes, procedures, etc
 Adhere to all ICO policies and procedures.
 Ensure that change and security control procedures are followed and
managed effectively.
 Provide out of hours support when required during implementations
or upgrades.
 Work as part of the team providing support and cover for colleagues
as required.
 Co-ordinate activities of others within areas of responsibility,
providing line management if necessary.
