The Impact of Gamification Strategy on Developing

Learning Retention to the students

Rationale

Learning Retention is the process of taking new information and transferring into your
long-term memory. This means information has been fully processed and failed for future recall.
With out retention, anything learned is liable to leave your short-term memory after brief
period of time. Statistically, people forget up to 70% of new information within the first 24
hours.
Nowadays, students should develop their learning retention skills, which in fact, there are
lots of destructions in their learning process. Students attention nowadays are being diverted such
as excessive attending their gadgets even in times of classes hours. Allotting time for study does
not prioritized anymore. Their attention and mind were occupied those nonsense activities due to
the rampant improper utilization of gadgets. Hence, it necessary to input effective strategy in
their learning process for them to develop learning retention that may results into productive
long-term learning outcome. Generally, it helps the students to apply the learning they have
learnt earlier with a long-term memory to a new learning.
Gamification strategy is one way to access easier transmission of learning and could
apply into long-term memory and is the process of transforming the typical classroom
environment. In this way, students could develop learning retention by experiencing and
applying into real life situation. It could catch the attention to the to be more motivated to
participate the learning session. Game-based learning is great way to improve young learner’s
creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It increases level of engagement in
classrooms and productivity. Hence, learning while experiencing could develop learning
retention to the learners for some way of sharpening the mind and memory of the learners that
could result into a long-term learning memory.

V- Statement of the Problem
In an attempt to ensure that effective learning retention takes place, the use
of gamification strategies of the teachers will be utilized to boost the learning
retention of the learners. Specifically, it seeks to find the answers to the following
questions:
 What General Average did a student have before the implementation?
 What General Average did a student have after the implementation?
 Is there a significant difference between the students’ General Average
before and after the implementation of the strategy?
VI- Research Design
This study will be using a Quantitative Research Design. First thing to do is
to gather the general average of the participants during the first quarter. Then the
teacher will now start implementing the gamification strategy of the second quarter
in a specific subject. The strategy will be observed within two consecutive
quarters. The researcher will then get the general average of the participants during
second and third quarter, and see if there is a significant change.
