Q.2. A reputed hospital wishes to analyze the health care delivery quality using cause and
effect diagram. Construct the cause and effect diagram. [5]
Q.3. The shelf life of a carbonated beverage is of interest. Ten bottles are randomly selected
and the results obtained are given below:
Q.3 (a) Is it correct to say its mean shelf life exceeds 120 days at α=0.01? [2]
Q.3 (b) Construct a 99 percent confidence interval on the mean shelf life. [2]
Q.3 (c) Can shelf life be described or modeled adequately by normal distribution? [4]
Q.4. Suppose that a supplier ships component in lots of size 5000. A single-sampling plan with
n=50 and c=2 is being used for receiving inspection. Rejected lots are screened, and all
defective items are reworked and returned to the lot.
(b) Find the level of lot quality that will be rejected 90% of the time. [3]
(c) Management has objected to use of the above sampling procedure and wants to use
plan with an acceptance number c=0, arguing that this is more consistent with their
zero-defect program. What do you think of this? [3]
(d) Design a single-sampling plan with c=0 that will give a 0.90 probability of
rejection of lots having the quality level found in par(b). Note that the two plans are
now matched at the LTPD point. Draw the OC curve for this plan and compare it to
the one for n=50, c=2 in part(a). [3]
