1. What are the similarities between Medieval and Renaissance paintings?

The obvious area of commonality between the medieval and the Renaissance is
iconography, or subject matter. Virtually all of medieval art in western Europe has Christian
subjects, and most of Renaissance art does, too, though with the addition of subject taken
from classical mythoThe handling of haloes is an intriguing evidence of the shift from the
mediaeval to the Renaissance period. Halos, which were originally characterized as a type
of radiance or aura surrounding a holy person's head, occur in mediaeval art as rings around
the heads. As the Renaissance developed means for representing spatial depth using linear
perspective, these halos transformed into discs, similar to plates, and were portrayed tilting
to the side and away from the viewer.logy and history.

2. What are the similarities differences between Romanesque and Gothic architecture?

They both have arched openings, with the Romanesque having a single point curve (traditional arch) and
the Gothic having a two-point curve (pointed arch). To attain a polished form, they both rely significantly
on the column for vertical emphasis and unit repetition. To emphasise the horizontal, both use a system
of sometimes subtle layers. I believe the gothic plays with massing more eloquently. (True) Romanesque
is a tad more angular.
