The period of time between 800 BCE and 600 CE in the Mediterranean and surrounding area is
called the classic period.

EMPIRE Empires grew larger and become more structured.

important than in the ancient period.

5. What happened in Rome near the end of the classical period? Describe in detail.

Near the end of classical period in 500 CE, the Roman Empire split into two parts, the Eastern
Empire and the Western Empire.
