The document discusses the impacts of food and wine tourism on destinations. It covers three main impacts: economic, environmental, and cultural. Economically, food and wine tourism brings revenue from related industries like hotels and restaurants. It increases jobs and local incomes. Environmentally, overdevelopment of farmland can damage the environment, but food and wine tourism has less negative impact than other industries. Culturally, tourists experience local cuisine and there is an exchange of food traditions, though some negative impressions can occur from poor service.

impacts on the destinations. In the report, we will
introduce from three main points of impacts which are economic impact, environment impact and culture impact. Meanwhile, there are some other impacts will be mentioned in this report although they only apply a few effect on the destination. First of all, we will introduce the economic impacts of the food and wine tourism, this tourism brings series of relevant industries. For example, hotel, restaurant, rent a car and guide tour. As we all know, with the developing of tourism industry, an increasing number of people will come to the destination, that means they need more space to live, eat and enjoy the views of that destination. At the meantime, the relevant industries make more chance of working for the people who cannot find a job in the original situation. There is also an economic impact that related to financial part. The tourism makes the increasing of local family income and the number of foreign exchanges. When the tourists go to the destinations that have special food or wines, they must want to try the specialties. Explicitly, that makes local people earn more money by selling more products. Meanwhile, the GDP of the destination will increase by developing food and wine tourism. For instance, France is famous for their wine, based on the reputation of the wine, more and more people buy wine when they travel to France. The phenomenon leads to the development of the whole French grape farming industry and more French people live on grape farming. By selling more wine, the income of the farmers climbs a lot, and the amount of foreign exchange of France is also increased because of the foreign tourists’ consumption. Moreover, the wine industry builds large number of wineries which can also provide work chances for the local people. The build of those wineries brings French wine a good reputation, too.
In this paragraph, we will concern about the
environment impact on the destination. Environment problem is a worldwide heated issue in the modern city. The food and wine tourism leads to large number cost of food and wine materials, so that the farmland, the orchard or some other space for farm the materials may be over-developed. In this case, the farmland which are overloaded will be hard to repaired, and the farmers will open up more useful land. The environment has been damaged by long-term overloading and reclaiming. But the government may find some environment problems which existed originally, and they will find solutions for those problems at the meantime. Furthermore, to compare with other industries, tourism industry can make less negative influence on the environment, especially food and wine tourism. Even if food and wine tourism may bring some disadvantages on the environment, those problems are also easy to solve, because regularly this tourism just make some natural rubbish those can only apply a few effects on the environment. There is a beer festival which is held every year in Germany. The beer festival is called Oktoberfest, it is held in Munich and Bavaria of Germany from late September to the first weekend of October (about 16 to 18 days)annually. In 2007, there was a 16 days Oktoberfest Beer Festival which consumed a large quantity of Germany beer, with almost 7 million liters served during the whole Beer Festival time ant that provide large numbers of rubbish. It is just one example of thousands of food and wine events which are held all over the world. From that, it is not very hard to find the rubbish from the food and wine events is also a problem that need to be solved. The third main impact of food and wine tourism on the destination is culture impact. Firstly, when tourists go to different destinations, they must try to find the local typical food or wine, people always want to try the unique things. And some countries are famous for some typical food, for the reputation, people must want to try. For instance, Fish and Chips from the UK, Sushi from Japan and so on. When the tourists try local food, it is also a communication of different culture, they can find the difference between different cultures. Such as some Asian countries use chopsticks to eat, and some countries use knives and forks to eat. It is a type of cultural exchange and shock. From other side, food and wine can also improve the imagination of the destination, so that may attract more tourists come to visit. Namely, as we mentioned in the report before, the French wine, Germany Beer Festival, fish and chips from the UK and Sushi from Japan, those are all some of the motivations of the tourists. It is worth mentioning that there are some people who are employ themselves in jobs related to the food and wine industry, they are a main group of people who may go to the destination because of the famous food or wine. But what we cannot denied is there are some negative cultural impact in the meantime. Sometimes when people go traveling, there is unavoidable chance for them to meet some unprofessional restaurants or bars. Those unsatisfied experience may make them feel upset on the destination, and even they may tell their friends the bad imagination about the destination. That will lead a small number of people who may visit the destination change their mind. Moreover, there are some other impacts on the destination, too. We think those impacts should be mentioned, although they only make a few influences on the destination. As we all known, in current worldwide environment, terrorism is a heated issue. When the food or wine events are held, there will be large numbers of people visit the destination. In that case, the terrorists may find chances to make some terrorist incident to scare the whole world, so that they can reach their goals. Recently, terrorist incidents happened frequently all over the world, we cannot ignore that the food or wine events may provide chances for the terrorists. To deeply know about the food and wine tourism, strategy opportunity must be discussed. The governments should consider about the sustainable development. First of all, to prevent the huge pollution problems, government should hire more cleaners to clean the destination, by the way, they can also appeal to the tourists not to make too much rubbish by using slogans or advertisements. Slogans and advertisements can easily cause the tourists’ public spirit and make them be more politely. Secondly, government can make advertising videos to attract tourists come to the destination. It can be actualized by combining with other types of tourism. For example, when develop the tourist attractions, restaurants and bars can be built nearby, and in the promotions, the delicious food and wine, high- quality restaurants and bars can all be recommended. Food and wine can be a considerable factor when the tourists select their destination, but it is hard for them to find some good place to eat. Making advertising videos with food and wine or make apps that can recommend tasty local food are good ways to motivate tourists. Thirdly, the restaurants and bars themselves should improve their own qualities and provide perfect service and products for their consumers. For example, the tourism department of government can launch some cultivate courses for the staffs so that they can learn how to make consumers feel good and even want to come back to the destination again. In the meantime, from the catering industry side, they can maybe come up new products or limit edition products, hire high-quality chefs and bartenders, stock fresh original material of food. From taking those steps the quality of the whole catering industry will increase to a high level and that will provide the tourists a satisfied experience and then make a good impression of the destination for them. Furthermore, government can also build some museums for their typical food or wine. The museums can be the new tourist attractions. The process of making the typical food or wine can be showed in the museums. After the tourists view the whole process of making the food or wine, they can have chance to try the products and if they want, there is a shop for them to buy and bring to their friends and families as souvenirs. And even the museums can give the tourists chance to make the products by themselves. The experience of making the food or wine by their own will provide the tourists a deeply expression of the destination. As i have been to Bali, the coffee bean there is famous all over the world, especially the civet coffee bean. After i visit their coffee bean factory, i am very interested in the culture of their coffee, before i leave, i bought some coffee bean as souvenir, and that bring me a good expression of Bali’s tourism experience. Last but not least, holding food and wine events is a good idea to develop the food and wine tourism industry. For holding an event, the sponsor should consider about the target group of consumers. As we have mentioned before, the main consumers of the food and wine tourism are the business people, retired people, backpackers and some of the professional people who are go in for the catering industry such as chefs and bartenders. In this case, the holders should plan some thing can attract the target group. For instance, they may hold the event nearby the hotel so that may attract the businesspeople and backpackers who didn’t know the event, by the way, the holders can make some leaflets and contact the hotel’s reception to help them give away those leaflets so that they can achieve the goal of attract those tourists. From the retired people side, the holder can think about cooperating with some travel agencies, so the retied people will have chance to know more about the events. Finally, those professional people may be attracted by the professional skills, in this case, we suggest the holders build some competitions during the food or wine events are held. Meanwhile, the invitation of some talented people must make more professional people want to attend the events. For the regular tourists, more types of food and wine and some typical food from different places will make them satisfied with the events.
