Description
There is a pile in the seawater intake pump house. The pile number is SWPP 52. In this pile,
spiral reinforcement can be seen. Therefore, we have proposed to hack the pile and use concrete
to build up.
We are requesting you to approve this method to overcome this error.
Note: Before initiating the hacking process, we assessed the covering, which currently measures
less than 75mm but more than 25mm. We propose adjusting it to achieve a minimum of 75mm or
greater.

Method
Hacking pile
Hack the pile up to 2 meters below the cutoff level and inspect the covering surrounding the pile.
If the covering is less than 75mm, clean it up to a depth and length of approximately 300mm
from the concrete edge and pour concrete around the pile at 300mm depth and length.

Removing loose particles.
Here we remove loose particles such as bentonite concrete, mud, and granular materials (sand,
clay, gravel). removal methods,
 Manual removing – using a crowbar or hammer.
 Mechanical excavation – Using an excavator to dig the mud around the piles
 Air or water jetting – Cleaning pile surface using a compressor.

Fixing the casing
Install a casing with a diameter of 0.6 meters around the pile using either an excavator or a crane. Ensure
that the casing is fixed securely in place. casing may be used to facilitate the concreting process. It helps
ensure that the concrete is placed uniformly and that the pile shaft is properly formed. In this area, having
a high-water table or where groundwater is present, the casing can prevent water.

Applying construction concrete.
We prepare the concrete as per recommended specifications, ensuring precise proportions and
thorough mixing to achieve the desired consistency. Employ a suitable concrete pump or
injection system to introduce the concrete from the bottom of the casing, gradually filling the
void between the casing and the pile. Monitor the flow of concrete to guarantee uniform
distribution within the annular space of the casing. Periodically assess the level to verify that it
reaches the specified cutoff point, ensuring accurate and effective concreting.
