PROJECT MANAGEMENT

SLIDE NO 1:
INTRODUCTION: The expansion of Newcastle general hospital cardiac unit is a critical response
to the recent population growth in the Northumbria area. The need to expand the unit’s
capacity in order to admit more patients with serious cardiac conditions and ultimately save
lives is the reason for the emergency.
SIGNIFICANCE: The cardiac unit expansion at Newcastle general hospital is essential in given
the recent population growth, as its secures utilize to life saving cardiac care.
AIMS:
• Access the range of positions and abilities.
• Perform the project controls, limitations, and risks.
OBJECTIVES:
• In order to meet the community health needs, the study wants to immediately increase
the cardiac unit’s capacity.

SLIDE NO 2:
AIMS: The aim is to extend the cardiac unit to enlarge its capacity for more patients with bad
heart conditions. The design and capacity have been approved before starting the plan. The aim
to access to care, prioritizing life saving measures.
OBJECTIVES: The primary objective is expanding cardiac unit to enhance capacity for patients
with heart conditions. The plan encompasses analysing controls, risks and constraints, while
assessing essential roles and skills.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT AND ACCESS: With focus on the wellbeing of the community the project
gives priority to better access to cardiac facilities that can save lives. Guarantee patients with
serve heart conditions prompt and essentials care to improve community health. (Kerzner &
Belack, (2011))

SLIDE NO 3:
Project Overview:
Brief Description of proposed extension: Due to Population Growth in Hospital cardiac unit
needs to be urgently extended as part of this project. Key components are the capacity
improvements and design that have been approved by the local council and community.
Capacity Increase and patient care Impact: The goal of the extension is to greatly increase the
cardiac unit’s capacity in order to meet the critical demand for more room in order to admit
more patients with serious cardiac problems. The main objective of providing adequate access
to improve community health is aligned with this capacity increase. (Amin, et al., (2022))

SLIDE NO 4:
Population growth and increased demand: The need for the cardiac unit extension has been
emphasized by the recent increase in the population which has increased demand for cardiac
care services it is necessary to address this growth in order to safeguard the health and welfare
of the community.
Community and local council approval: By ensuring that the plan complies with legal
requirements and community needs, obtaining community and local council approval strength
its ability.
Saving lives by admitting more patients: The extension directly contributes to the saving of
lives by expanding the cardiac unit capacity and facilitating the admission of more patients with
serious heart conditions. The benefits of the communities’ health and wellbeing right way are
emphasized. , (Demeulemeester, et al., 2012)

SLIDE NO 5:
Management Control Techniques
I have explained two techniques according to this project:
Budgetary control: This is the process of keeping an eye on the project finances and making
sure that all expenses are within the allocated amount. This control method keeps the project
on schedule by limiting expenditure and making efficient use of available resources.
Quality control: This is the process of keeping an eye on the project output quality to make
sure its satisfies the necessary requirements. By guaranteeing that the project of excellent
quality and satisfies stakeholder expectations this control technique makes sure stays on
course. (Livesey, 2016)

SLIDE NO 6:
Critical analysis of stakeholder and their requirements:
Important stakeholders: The community, hospital employees, and the local council are the
main stakeholders in the plan to expand Newcastle general hospital.
Community needs and expectations: For the benefit of the community, the community
anticipates that the cardiac unit will be expanded to provide sufficient access to cardiac
facilities.
Expectations and needs of the hospital staff: In order to save more lives the cardiac unit must
be extended to accommodate the recent population growth. Additionally, more patients with
serious heart conditions must be admitted.
Expectation and need of the local council: The local council anticipates that the expansion of
the cardiac unit will satisfy the community healthcare requirements and to the rules and
guidelines of the health care system. (Barbalho, et al., 2019)

SLIDE NO 7:
Assessment of financial resources
Financial resources: The financial resources required for the extension of the cardiac unit will
include funding for medical equipment, construction and hiring staff.
Human resources: The human resources required for the project will include hiring trained
medical professions, project managers and support staff.
Technological Resources: The technological resources required for the project will include such
as imaging machines, specialized monitors, and other cardiac treatment related technologies.
These Resources Will Facilitate:
• Providing required infrastructure for the treatment of cardiac patients.
• Human resources will facilitate timely healthcare services to patients. (Conedera, et al.,
2023) ,

SLIDE NO 8:
Risks Analysis
Identification and analysis of potential risks:
• Delays in obtaining necessary permits and approvals from regulatory bodies.
• Inadequate funding for the project.
• Resistance from the community towards the project.
• Unforeseen technical difficulties during the construction process.
Strategies for mitigating or managing these risks:
• To avoid any delays in obtaining permits and approvals, a dedicated team will be tasking
to working on completing these tasks.
• Adequate financial resources will be made available for the project
• Educating the community on the benefits of the extension unit through public
awareness campaigns. (Livesey, 2020) ,
SLIDE NO 9:
Approach for the Time Scale of Project:
• Risks Analysis: Before commencing the project, a risk assessment will be conducted to
identify potential risks and take necessary actions to minimize their impact. The risk will
involve an analysis of controls.
• Approach for Time: To ensure the successful completion of the project a detailed
timeline for project milestones and a critical path will be developed. Key deadlines will
also be identified that the project is delivered on time.
Roles and Skills: These include managers, contractors, engineers, and skilled professionals who
will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring its successful completion. (Atkinson, et al.,
2006) ,

SLIDE NO 10:
Documentation Summary

The comprehensive overview of all the documents required for the successful completion. This
includes project plans, reports, approvals, and other related documents. The importance of
maintaining comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle will be emphasized.
It ensures accountability and mitigate risks. Adequate documentation also enhances transparency
and can help identify problems and suggest solutions leading to the success of the project.

(Ballard, 2008)

SLIDE NO 11:
Appraisal of Research Method:
In research approach that will be used to assess stakeholder satisfaction with the extension of
the Cardiac Unit. The research method will involve surveys, interviews. A comprehensive
research approach will be provided, focusing on its strengths and weaknesses.
Explanation:
The research approach will be explained, with a particular focus on the survey and interview
methods. The survey method involves gathering data through the use of questionnaires, the
interview method involves a face to face conversation with stakeholders.
Importance:
The critical importance of assessing stakeholder satisfaction in Cardiac Unit expansion.
Stakeholder satisfaction can affect the success of the project, both in terms of community
support and the quality of care provided to patients.

SLIDE NO 12:
Addressing Specific Concerns: Acknowledge and directly respond to short-term concerns of
select community sections. Address the concerns of some community members who believe
that they may not profit from the extension unit in the short-term, a presentation will be made
to highlight the benefits of having a cardiac facility.
Long-term Benefits Emphasis: Illustrate enduring positive impacts, emphasizing sustained
community health improvements.
