Points to Note:
o As expected, the TRI52 very highly correlates with other measures of nonverbal related aptitudes such
as the General Ability Measure for Adults, the Odd Item Out (classification) subtest of the Reynolds
Intellectual Screening Test, the Mathematical Reasoning scale of the recentered Scholastic Aptitude
Test and the Performance scale of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. It also positively correlates
with verbal ability tests and shows high correlations with the Guess What? (Information) subtest of the
Reynolds Intellectual Screening Test and the Verbal scale of the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale.
o *Correlation corrected for restriction of range1.

This table shows the reliability (internal consistency) coefficients with their 95%
confidence interval.
Points to Note:
OF
o The internal consistency, as shown by Cronbach’s α and others, is excellent. Alpha measures the extent
to which item responses obtained at the same time correlate highly with each other. It shows the
reliability level of test scores, in other words, whether or not it is possible to draw conclusions about
the performance of an examinee based on the score given by the test. Commonly accepted cut-off for
psychometric purposes is .80 while supervised cognitive measures usually showing alpha coefficients
above .90.
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is an objective, standardized, three-hour test that measures
verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities that students develop over time, both in and out of
school. Many colleges and universities use the SAT for admission purposes because it helps to
predict successful performance in college.
The recentered SAT (SAT I), used between 1995 and 2005, was divided into two sections, (i) a
verbal part with emphasis on critical reading in which vocabulary was tested in the context of
reading passages and in analogy and sentence-completion questions and (ii) a mathematical
part with emphasis on data interpretation and applied math questions in which calculators
were permitted but not required.
A group of 95 persons, mostly students (one 50 years old subject has been discarded), were
administered the SAT I prior to took the TRI52. This table presents the correlations between
TRI52 scores and the SAT I Math reasoning score. The correlations are.84. This finding
suggests the TRI52 and the Math part of the SAT I are measures of very closely related
constructs.

Correlations between TRI52 Reasoning Index and the Wechsler Adult
Intelligence Scale Full Scale, Verbal and Performance IQs
The Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS), is the world most used test for the clinical
measure of one’s intelligence.
A group of 49 persons were administered the WAIS prior to took the TRI52. Among them, 36
reported individual VIQ and PIQ along with their FSIQ. This table presents the correlations
between the TRI52 scores and the WAIS IQs. Both the FSIQ and the PIQ correlations with the
TRI52 were equivalent at .77. The TRI52-VIQ was the lowest at .56. These findings indicate the
TRI52 is a good measure of general cognitive functioning as well as of visual-spatial
representation.
