INTRODUCTION
• Adopt a plant is a growing trend among nature enthusiasts, plant
lovers, and individuals who want to make a positive impact on
the environment. The concept of adopt a plant involves taking
responsibility for the care and well-being of a plant, similar to
adopting a pet or child.

• To experience the journey of a plant parent, I planted a sapling

of a Tinospora cardifolia (also known by the names gurjo,
heartleaved moonseed, Guduchi, or giloy). It is native to India,
Bangladesh , and Sri Lanka.
• The plant has importance in traditional ayurvedic medicine used
for ages in the treatment of fever, jaundice, chronic diarrhoea,
cancer, dysentery, bone fracture, pain, asthma, skin diseases,
poisonous insect, snake bite, and eye disorders. Giloy is a source
of many important plant compounds, namely terpenoids,
alkaloids, lignans, and steroids. Lab studies suggest these
compounds have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant,
and antidiabetic properties, among other benefits. Its fresh
leaves can simply be chewed daily for maintaining a healthy
body i.e., highly enriched in Vitamin C.
• Adopting a plant is a great way to learn many important life
skills, including responsibility, patience, gardening,
environmental awareness, stress relief, and creativity. It is a
simple yet rewarding way to connect with nature and enhance
your well-being. And, I took good care of the plant by watering
it, providing it with proper sunlight, and keeping it away from
insects or other plant-eating organisms.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND CAUSE OF

THE PROBLEM

• I have adopted a plant for the first time so, I faced many
problems and the major problem was not having proper
knowledge about its sunlight requirements, it can lead to
potential problems.
• As I always thought that leaving the plant in direct sunlight all
day would be beneficial, but it turned out to be harmful, and the
plant suffered damage. Later, I found out that excessive sunlight
can also be detrimental to the plant’s health.
• So when I realized my mistake, I corrected it by placing the
plant in a location that receive sunlight within limits.
After identifying
the problem

OBJECTIVE TO BE ACHIEVED

• Adopt a plant is a concept that encourages individuals to take

responsibility for the care and well-being of a plant. The
concept involves individuals taking on the responsibility of
nurturing a plant, providing it with the necessary care and
attention, and ensuring its growth and development.
• The primary objective of adopting a plant is to encourage
individuals to take responsibility for the well-being of a plant,
promote environmental awareness and sustainability, and
encourage individuals to contribute to the improvement of the
natural world.
• Promote environmental sustainability: Adopting a plant
encourages individuals to become more environmentally
conscious and aware of the impact of their actions on the natural
world.
• Improve air quality: Plants help to purify the air by absorbing
pollutants and releasing oxygen. Adopting a plant can improve
the air quality of our home or office and help us breathe cleaner
air.
• Enhance the aesthetic value of our surroundings: Plants can add
beauty and colour to our surroundings, making our living or
work environment more visually appealing.
VARIOUS STEPS WERE TAKEN TO ACHIEVE
OBJECTIVE
There are various steps required to take good care of a plant. Like:

1. Choose a suitable plant: The first step in adopting a plant is to

choose a suitable plant that is appropriate for my living or work
environment. Consider factors such as lighting, temperature, and
humidity when selecting a plant.

2. Provide the necessary care: Once I have selected a plant, provide it

with the necessary care and attention, such as watering, fertilizing,
and pruning. Ensure that the plant is placed in an appropriate
location and that it receives the right amount of sunlight and water.

3. Learn about the plant's needs: To effectively care for my adopted

plant, it is important to learn about its specific needs, such as the
type of soil it requires and its watering and fertilizing needs. This
will help me provide the plant with the appropriate care and ensure
its growth and development.

4. Promote sustainability: Adopting a plant is a great way to promote

sustainability and environmental consciousness. Consider using
eco-friendly products, such as organic fertilizers and biodegradable
plant pots, to reduce your impact on the environment.
5. Monitor the plant's health: Regularly monitor the plant's health
and look out for any signs of pests or disease. Address any issues
promptly to ensure the plant's continued health and growth. I have
also click pictures, so I can analyse health and growth or progress
my plant is making and therefore, I can prepare accordingly.(below
are some pictures for the same).

3rd-week 4th -week

5th-week 6th-week
6. Making improvements in the surrounding: As my plant was a
climber, I need to attach a rope, so my plant can grow with the
support of that rope.

Now, by this we can conclude that nothing in this world is perfect

and imperfections are the only things that make the journey more
beautiful.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE PROJECT

• I had a great project where I learned how to be a responsible

plant parent and take care of plants. Additionally, I gained
knowledge about the significance of plants for future
generations and society.
• When I did this project, my family members and friends were
also encouraged to adopt plants, which made the project fun and
interesting for me. This helped spread the idea of adopting
plants and being environmentally conscious to those around me.
• "I learned a lot of valuable skills through this project, including
how to properly care for plants. It was a great journey for me as
I was able to cultivate a sapling into a big plant.
• Following are the small steps that made a big impact on my
project journey:
1. Choosing a suitable plant
2. Provide the necessary care
3. Providing right amount of sunlight and water
4. Monitor the plant’s health
5. Taking pictures in intervals to see the progress
6. Making improvements in the surrounding
CONCLUSION
As a conclusion to my project, I would like to express my gratitude
for the opportunity to take part in it. I hope to have more opportunities
like this in the future. This project has taught me a lot about how to
become a responsible plant parent and the importance of planting for
society and future generation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the journey from a sapling to a big plant and

learned many techniques for proper plant care. I also learned that
small steps have a significant impact on plants growth.

During the journey, I also made some mistakes (mentioned above),

but I still learned from them.

Lastly, I am grateful that I became a plant parent.
