Job Description
Project
The Dirty Seahorse offers women's workwear for women working in the trades. This workwear was
developed with the input of women working in the trades. It is designed for proper fit, functionality,
durability, movement, and safety as well to withstand the harshest weather, environmental and
working conditions. It has specialty features designed specifically with women in mind. With limited
design and R&D capabilities existing in-house, The Dirty Seahorse is seeking product development
and technological support to explore new features for their specialized market, while still emphasizing
the style and fit of their apparel. The proposed project will be leveraging the expertise and specialized
equipment at FX to develop two (2) products for applications in welding: protective welding gloves and
protective welding jackets.
Role and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the researcher, the incumbent will:
• Review of the protective welding gloves and protective welding jackets with the partner,
including a demonstration for what function is needed for each product.
• Conduct secondary market research analysis, and product market research (available
designs, competitor products, etc).
• Conduct material, functionality, and manufacturing assessment.
• Create Tech Pack per each prototype that illustrate product concepts.
• Write a report to summarize findings from literature review and analysis.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Secondary school completion or equivalency, current enrolled in Fashion Techniques and
Design program at GBC Fashion School with anticipated graduation from April/2024
onwards
• Knowledge of market research analysis.
• Ability to research and document findings.
• Report writing and presentation skills.
