increasing the presence within diverse regional market in the potential region of North
America. Furthermore, many established market players are striving to develop joint
ventures; and strategic mergers & acquisitions decisions to diversify their product portfolios
and presence across many geographies. In the global market, the increasing engagement of
businesses from various geographies is producing a fierce and severe competition landscape.
Husqvarna Group, Robert Bosch GmbH, and STIGA S.p.A. are identified as the top
contenders with promising market shares in the market.
The Asia Oceania region market comprising China, India, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand,
and Australia, and it has a comparatively less market share for the lawn mowers than other
major regions of the world, but is expected to register the fastest growth in terms of CAGR
during the forecast period. The region has recently witnessed many foreign companies
offering new technology-driven robotic and walk-behind lawn mowers. An increase in
disposable family income and people's interest in gardening activities in emerging economies
have opened new avenues and created several opportunities for lawn mower manufacturers in
the region. The Chinese lawn mower market is the largest in the Asia Oceania region and is
witnessing significant growth in sales and demand for different types of lawn mowers. China
is one of the fastest-growing markets for robotic lawn mowers, given the rising disposable
income in the country.
existing product lines. For instance, in March 2018, Husqvarna Group announced the
introduction of a cloud-based voice service known as Alexa in their product, Automower
Connect. With this, owners can use voice commands to start, stop, park, and get updates
related to the working condition or the whereabouts of their lawnmowers.
On the other hand, Americas, comprising countries like US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil is
projected to be the largest market for lawn mowers in terms of volume sold annually during
the forecast period. The US, traditionally one of the global technological leaders, is the
largest American lawn mower market. The large customer base and high disposable income
levels fuel the demand for lawn mowers resulting in increased manufacturing activities. The
growth of the lawn care industry and a higher annual cost of landscaping services are the
major factors for the growth in this region.
Based on end-use, the market has been segregated into residential and commercial segments.
The residential segment was valued at more than USD 200.0 million in 2018 and is expected
to retain its dominance over the forecast period. The increasing adoption of robotic
equipment in the residential end-use segment is expected to play a key role in determining the
growth prospects of the segment over the forecast period. The residential end-use segment is
also likely to register the highest CAGR over the forecast period.
The commercial segment is anticipated to rise to a valuation of more than USD 400 million
by 2025. Rising government investment into the beautification of existing infrastructure,
parks, and lawns or yards present near historic monuments could work well for the growing
demand for robotic lawn mowers in the commercial end-use segment. Furthermore, the
segment is also expected to witness significant growth over the forecast period owing to the
steady growth of the hospitality sector and the tourism industry.
The global robotic lawn mowers market size was valued at USD 351.12 million in 2018 and
is expected to register a CAGR of 21.9% from 2019 to 2025. The emergence of remote-
controlled and GPS-equipped autonomous lawnmowers has made gardening easier by
making these products easy to track, monitor, and operate. Furthermore, there has been a
notable rise in consumer interest in gardening activities across the globe, creating an
increased need for gardening tools such as robotic lawnmowers.
The gradual shift from manual tools to technically advanced, automated equipment is also
likely to help develop a large set of growth opportunities for players in the market. The
upsurge in demand for landscaping services in developed countries such as the U.S., to add
an aesthetic value to a property, a notable rise in disposable incomes, and the evolving
lifestyles of people in developing countries such as India and China are anticipated to fuel the
growth prospects of the robotic lawn mowers market over the forecast period.
The presence of intelligent sensory controls in robotic lawnmowers, which ensure automated
mowing of a given landscape, is also expected to significantly impact the market demand
soon. Furthermore, key players are engaged in integrating ledge sensors and additional
features such as laser vision, smart navigation, lawn mapping, memory, and self-emptying in
their products to enhance the performance and efficiency of these devices. The resultant rise
in the availability of more efficient robotic lawnmowers is likely to work well for the market
soon.
In India the autonomous Lawn Mower market is not so established as the west and other
countries. The lawn mower market is estimated to grow over the forecast period. The rising
sports activities and golf lawns would drive the institutional demand for lawn mowing
machines. Owing to their higher capacity and greater output, the riding lawn mowers or zero-
turn mowers are projected to lead the lawn mower market. Alternatively, the growing
convergence of automation and the development of IoT would drive the demand for robotic
lawn mowers. The robotic lawn mowers also eliminated the safety issues associated with
traditional lawn mowers. With the increase in urban spaces and lawn areas around the
residential places, the need for residential lawn mowers would rise and would further fuel the
demand for robotic lawn mowers.
The growing urbanization across regions has been attributed to the growth of residential
spaces with lawns and increasing demand for mechanized lawn mowers to maintain the lawns
across vicinities. According to the United Nations Revision of World Urbanization Prospects,
68% of the world's population will live in cities by 2050, up from 55% in 2018. This
urbanization necessitates the development of smart cities and green spaces, which requires
the construction of new structures and the upkeep of public green areas and parks. With a
substantial economic expansion in the last 25 years, many of the world's population enjoys
more economic affluence. According to the World Economic Forum estimates, in 2019,
consumers' purchasing power in different regions will increase. All these factors are
increasing the demand for lawn mower machines in India. Various players offer lawn mower
renting services to address the rise in demand. This rise in spending is anticipated to increase
the number of green spaces around cities, necessitating the use of lawn mowers, resulting in
an increased demand across India.
Emerging technologies like AI in robotic systems can help automate lawn mowing systems
with better cutting efficiency. Some robotic mowers have integrated functionality within apps
to alter settings or schedule mowing times and frequency and manually control the mower
with a digital joystick. Technologies like embedded GPS in modern robotic lawn mowers
allow them to automatically mow around obstacles or even go to sleep when it starts to rain.
Most robotic mowers use a random approach, in which the machine bounces around on the
grass until it strikes the boundary wire that limits the operating area. Then it switches
direction until it hits the wire again. This could take a long time, depending on the lawn size.
Hence, the equipment must be running at all times. Several robotic mowers, such as
CyberBlade by Flo Mobility, construct a garden map before systematically tackling the work.
The market is divided into two types of applications: residential and commercial.
Due to the growing interest of domestic customers in gardening and landscape care, the
residential segment is likely to have a significant proportion of the market.Increasing
infrastructure development in the sub-urban areas of prominent cities especially in North America
and Europe and efforts of home owners in incorporating more greenery and lush lawns have
increased the sale of robotic mowers dedicated for application in the residential sector.
The commercial segment is anticipated to rise to a valuation of more than USD 400 million by
2025. Rising government investment into the beautification of existing infrastructure, parks, and
lawns or yards present near historic monuments could work well for the growing demand for
robotic lawn mowers in the commercial end-use segment. Furthermore, the segment is also
expected to witness significant growth over the forecast period owing to the steady growth of the
hospitality sector and the tourism industry.
The residential sector leads in the deployment of robotic lawn mowers, and would generate nearly
60% of total returns to shareholders. Increased expenditure on activities - landscaping, backyard
beautification and cookouts, and garden parties, along with the need to save time on lawn
maintenance activities, are driving the adoption of robotic lawn mowers in this end use sector.
The commercial sector, in the recent past, has been staunchly inclining towards automation in
order to achieve operational efficiency. Robotic lawn mower market players are tapping into this
opportunity to uncover new revenue lines.
The global robotic lawn mowers market size was valued at USD 351.12 million in 2018 and

19 has been unprecedented and staggering, with robotic lawn mower witnessing a positive
impact on demand across all regions amid the pandemic. Based on our analysis, the global
market exhibited a stellar growth of 13.6% in 2020 as compared to the average year-on-year
growth during 2017-2019. The sudden fall in CAGR is attributable to this market’s demand
and growth, returning to pre-pandemic levels once the pandemic is over.
The growing prominence of lawn maintenance and gardening activities in plush areas is
anticipated to drive the market at a noteworthy pace. This is backed by the rising income
level of end-users, growing demand for robotic lawn mower is being witnessed to enhance
the aesthetics and user experience. Additionally, the development of novel technologies and
high-end products is expected to fuel the market growth.
The prominent and established manufacturers operating within the markets are keen towards
development of innovative products in diverse regions within the market. These key market
players are making hefty investments in R&D operations. These technological advancements
in robotic lawn mower products is set to fuel decent market growth across regions. By

CHAPTER 3
SIP Project Profile
The focus of this internship was to learn the skill of negotiation and
experience how sales is done.
Flo Mobility provided an opportunity to expose ourselves to the field of Marketing. The role
given to me was Business Development Intern.
My Primary work was to get business , supervise the deployment and do market research as
and when required for the company.
The mode of work was offline that is in office. I was reporting directly to Flo Mobility’s CBO
(Mr.Kaushik Bose). He mentored me and taught me various skills like negotiating and how to
approach an situation when talking to a client. He accompanied me on client visit in the
starting 2 weeks then when we thought that I am confident and ready for the market, then I
started going alone and represented Flo Mobility in front of the clients.
The total duration of the internship was 9 weeks, the details of which are
given below:
In the second week of my internship at Flo Mobility, they taught me how to search for leads
for their product on google maps and other websites related to their product end use. They
asked me to search for leads who were resort owners, facility management companies,
Society Managers , Wedding Lawn Owners etc. They asked me to maintain a format provided
by the company which asked for name, email, contact number and address of the lead and
make list of leads who can be company’s potential clients.
In the third week of my internship at Flo Mobility, they asked me prepare a pitch which I
could use to talk to my potential clients while offering the service of Cyberblade. They asked
me to make at least of 4 pitches. These pitches were then checked by the sales lead of Flo
mobility and made necessary corrections to it according to what they feel it could be better.
After the pitch was approved , they made me do mock calls within the company with other
employees so that I am fluent and well prepared before going on actual calls with the
potential clients. They gave me different situations in which the mock client reacted in
different ways to my calls.
In the fourth week of my internship at Flo Mobility, I was allowed to make real calls to my
potential clients from the list which I made in Week 2. I was supposed to mark all the
negative calls as red and all the positive calls as green. Also to type a brief of each call.My
CBO asked me to set up meetings , so that I can visit them and demonstrate the product and
gain sales from them. I had been given a target to make 40 successful calls everyday and to
set up ateast 2 meeting for each day in a week. They asked me to set up all meetings for the
next week that is week 5.
In the fifth week of my internship at Flo Mobility, I was supposed to meet the clients with
whom I had set up a meeting. I was accompanied by my company’s CBO. He made me learn
how to start a conversation and what to say and what not to while talking to clients. It was a
really good experience to witness how well he convinced the potential clients to become our
customers. I learned how to negotiate and get the best for both the company as well as the
client. It was like to get a Win-Win situation. Visited many resorts in Bangalore and in Hosur.
In the sixth week of my internship at Flo Mobility, I got the approval for visiting my potential
clients on my own and make a deal with them for the company. Now I used to call my leads,
set up meetings and then visit them and close the deal. It gave me confidence which helped
me to talk and negotiate. I made the deal and allotted dates for deployment to the operations
team where I used to close the deal. I also supervised the deployments where I had done the
deal to ensure that the deployment is done effectively and efficiently. Also had to give
feedback to the Operations head about the Cyberblade if the operations faced challenges
while on deployment.
In the seventh week of my internship at Flo Mobility, I was given to do market research on
the company’s expansion plan to Dubai(UAE). I researched on the following:
In the eighth week of my internship at Flo Mobility, I researched about is the Cyberblade
compatible and will it be better than ride on lawn mowers used in Dubai. I made a detailed
report on this and presented in front of my CEO & CBO of the company. This was part of my
final internship report and work at Flo Mobility.

well and prioritize the important and urgent tasks.
I am now have more courage to accept challenges and tasks that I am not
familiar with, it's because I am willing to learn from mistakes and to ask
questions.
I am also willing to accept feedback from people and striving to do better the
next time.
We must learn to listen. Carefully listen to what others are saying through
their verbal and non-verbal communication such as body language. I learned
this by observing my CBO who is a very patient leader that always listen to his
employees before he make any comments and decision.
I have also learnt that the superiors need to have a good leadership skill in
leading a team members from brainstorming, planning, implementing, to
evaluation and feedback.
4.4 Recommendations
Flo Mobility is perfect and there is very little that I would suggest and
recommend to the company:
The amount of time the operations team take to repair the lawn
mowers is too much and there should be an alternative solution to
this.
The dress code of the place is smart casuals which no one follows,
instead they wear clothes which are not professionally sound. They
should implement a dresscode which gives compulsion on wearing a
shirt in the office, so that its more of a professional sitting.
The battery of the lawn mower doesn’t last enough to complete the
whole lawn without replacing the batteries, so they should do R&D
on the same.
Flo Mobility has one focus that by using highly affordable cameras
(instead of the very expensive LIDARs), along with retro-fitting on any
hardware, they are uniquely positioned to offer affordable autonomy
across industries to achieve the vision of a million autonomous bots by
2030. They are uniquely positioned to be able to offer software as a
retrofit stack on any OEM, to be operated autonomously or remotely.
These Autonomous Lawn mowers have a huge market and will be the
future of land scaping industry. The global lawn mower market size was
valued at $28.5 bn in 2019. Then the Covid pandemic happened and
everyone realised how critical greenery is for our lungs. The move to
electric lawn mowers is happening faster than expected.
