The Role

Job Title Teaching Assistant (1.0 FTE)

Location Forres campus, Scotland

Reports to Academic Lead

Purpose This post within the Innovation School is to support the delivery
of Design Innovation programmes taught at the Altyre campus.
This will add capacity to the whole academic team to allow for
development work on Upskilling courses and delivery of
alternative forms of learning and teaching.

The postholder will work with the Academic team to support a


studio based learning experience across all Design Innovation
courses. The role will primarily focus on the academic
development, coordination and delivery of learning and
teaching, general studio support and enhancing the student
experience. The role will help develop hybrid delivery across two
campuses and support the generation of innovative pedagogies,
as we diversify our cohort of learners by adding Upskilling
courses to our portfolio.

Key Accountabilities

• Supporting development of digital/hybrid pedagogy across PG Teaching


programmes/campuses (such as joint delivery between Glasgow and Forres)
• Supporting development of VLEs for existing and new programmes
• Aiding generation of new teaching materials and resources to support existing and new
Upskilling programmes
• Preparing project (curricular) outcomes for external dissemination as recruitment
materials (underpinning strategic expansion of student numbers/income)
• Facilitating Staff, Student partnership projects
• Supporting the delivery of the annual Winter School, and related events
• Supporting the academic logistics of exhibitions and events
• Digital content generation/management and liaison with Marketing Dept- Project blogs -
photography - Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/Website/LinkedIn/Canvas updates

Altyre specific

• Student liaison – improved student experience (Periodic Review


requirement/ELIR/PMAR QEAPs)
• Programme(s) support: Student and GSA SA liaison
• Increased H&S/First Aid presence
• Campus/Study promotion – support academic staff with regional/national
promotion of GSA H&I activities (student cohort diversity)

Person Specification

Experience and knowledge

Essential
• Educated to degree level in Innovation Design or associated subject
• Good understanding of current debates, trends and issues relating to the academic and
professional domain
• Some awareness of curriculum design, development and quality assurance at HE level.

Desirable
• Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience
• Teaching Design Innovation or other Design related field
• Expertise in Design Innovation practice or a related discipline
• Experience of co-ordinating courses at HE level
• Research experience in a related area
• Digital prototyping skills
• Multi-media presentation skills
• A PG Cert or other teaching qualification in a relevant subject, or willingness to acquire

Terms and Conditions
Contract Fixed Term (12 months)

Probationary Period It is recognised that there is an inevitable ‘settling in’ period in


any post. The probationary period is therefore an opportunity
for the employee to fit within the culture of the School. It should
also be determined during this time whether the job is in line with
expectations as expressed in pre-appointment discussions,
interview and as set out in the Job Description. The probation
period for this role is 6 months.

Salary Grade 5 £30,487 - £ 34,980 per annum, pro rata

Hours 35 hours per week

Pension Local Government Superannuation Scheme

Notice Period 1 month
