L 1 : SONOMETER I

You are given five tuning forks of known frequencies. Keeping tension constant,
determine the length of the wire vibrating in unison with each tuning fork.
Hence verify the law of length. (nL = constant)

L 2 : CURRENT SENSITIVITY OF TABLE GALVANOMETER


Measure the deflection in the table galvanometer for five different values of
current flowing through it.
Plot a graph of the deflection of the galvanometer in divisions ‘θ’ against current
‘I’. Calculate the sensitivity of the table galvanometer from the graph.

L 3 : SPRING - MASS OSCILLATOR


Suspend a light pan from the lower end of the spring suspended vertically from a
rigid support. Set the system consisting of suitable mass in the pan and
determine the time taken for 20 oscillations. Vary the mass in the pan and find
time of oscillations for five values of mass (m). Find the periodic time for each
mass assuming the whole mass (mS + m) of the system concentrated at a single
point. Mass of the spring is (mS + m).
Plot a graph of T2 against m. Hence find the mass of the spring.

L 4 : POTENTIOMETER
Compare the e.m.f.s of two given cells using a potentiometer by connecting them
separately. Take five sets of observations.
Hence determine the e.m.f. of the cell E1.

L 5 : NEWTON’S LAW OF COOLING


Plot a cooling curve for a given hot liquid. Find the rate of cooling for five different
values of temperatures.
Plot a graph of the rate of cooling (𝑑θ/𝑑𝑡) against excess of temperature (θ − θ0)
above the surroundings. Hence verify Newton’s law of cooling.

L 6 : WHEATSTONE’S BRIDGE
Verify the law of resistance in series combination using Wheatstone’s bridge.
Take three independent readings. Also interchange the positions of the
resistances in the gaps.Given : Resistance of first wire = …………….Ω
Resistance of second wire = …………..Ω
L 7 : LOGIC GATES (TTL, ICs)
You are given five TTL, ICs for the OR,AND,NOT,NOR and NAND gates.
Draw the symbolic diagrams to illustrate the function of the above gates. Write
the truth tables for these gates. Determine the output for all possible values of
input for each gate and verify the truth table.

You are given a capillary tube. Immerse the capillary tube partially in water.
Measure the capillary rise using a travelling microscope. Determine the radius
of the bore of the capillary tube.

Acceleration due to gravity, g = 9.8 m/s2
Density of water, ρ = 103 kg/m3
Angle of contact, θ = 00

L 10 : RESISTANCE OF THE GALVANOMETER


Determine the resistance of the galvanometer by Kelvin’s method. Take three
independent readings. Repeat the experiment by interchanging the positions of
the galvanometer and resistance box.

L 11 : SONOMETER II
You are given a tuning fork of known frequency. Using the sonometer, determine
the length (L) of the wire vibrating in unison with the given tuning fork for four
different known tensions (T) and one unknown tension.
Plot a graph of L2 against T. Hence determine the unknown tension.
Also draw the conclusion from the graph.
L 12 : POTENTIOMETER
Compare the e.m.f.s of two given cells using a potentiometer by the sum and
difference method. Take four sets of observations.
Hence determine the e.m.f. of the cell E2.

Draw the symbolic diagrams to illustrate the function of the above gates. Write

L 14 : RESONANCE TUBE
You are given four tuning forks of known frequency and one unknown frequency.
Determine the correct length (L = l + e) of the air column vibrating in unison with
each tuning fork.
Plot a graph of reciprocal of the correct length of air column (1/L) against
frequency (n).
Hence find the unknown frequency of the tuning fork.
