Evidences for tectonic plates:

There are many evidences for showing the movement of tectonic plates.

These are the most common one –

1. EVIDENCE FROM ROCKS –

So there are many different types of rocks and the same type rocks
forming with the same pattern and time is very hard so when the rocks that are
found in different places which mach scientist could conclude that the rocks were
made and then differed apart due to the movement of plate tectonics .

2. EVIDENCE FROM FOSSILS -

There are few animals fossils found that live in both South America
and Africa which don’t know how to swim or can’t swim a long way, but still it lived in
both places at the same time. but an organism which lives in the different part of
the world do not evolve the same way so scientist conclude the animal should have
evolved when the continents were all connected together .

3. EVIDENCE FROM VALCANEOS AND EARTHQUAKES –

Scientists prove that the occurrence of the volcanoes and
earthquake fully relay on the process of tectonic plates specifically the plate
boundary. Scientist says that when 2 plate boundaries meet they will move apart,
move towards each other, or submerge. When this process takes place the friction
that is created causes earthquake and the formations of the plate will cause
volcanoes.

4. EVIDENCE FROM MAGNETISIM –

 When the lava comes out of the volcanoes it hardens and only
face the North Pole due to the magnetic material that is present
in the magma .this process correlates with the topic
Paleomagnetisim.

Paleomagnetisim:
Term I
Planet earth

Is when scientist study about the magnetism in rocks to learn about

its magnetic field and its history?

 Depending on where the rocks solidify the rocks will show

different angle of North Pole. Scientist can predict where the
rock solidified if they know where the North Pole is.

The same rock shows different alignment of North Pole in different layers. This can
be due to

 Polar wandering –
The movement of the poles when the continents
stay at the same position.
 Continental drift –
The movement of the continents when the poles
stay at the same position.

Polar wandering is not happening.

5. EVIDENCE FROM UNER THE OCEAN –

+ The mid Atlantic ridge - largest ridge.
+ Bathymetric maps – maps that show the feature of oceans band
under waters

Ridges are formed when due to the tectonic plate’s movement. These moves from one pole
to other. The swimmers can swim through the ridge that is large and wide.
