LITERATURE REVIEW

The perception of citizens regarding their political environment is a

fundamental factor in the results of any electoral process.

Nevertheless, political culture tends to explain a set of specific political

orientations, positions regarding the political system and its different
elements, and attitudes related to one's role within that system (Peréz, 2019).

THEORY

Perception
A positive perception of a political party can generate a
greater degree of trust and credibility in that party and,
therefore, increase people's willingness to support its
public policies.
A negative image of the party, for example, due to
corruption, dishonesty, or breaking past promises, they
are likely to be more reluctant to support its public
policies

The relationship between the perception of a political

party and the decision to support public policies can be
complex and multifaceted.

party proposing the policy, and respondents' support for policies is not influenced by
their party identification.

Alternative Hypothesis (Hₐ): The perception of a public policy depends on the

party proposing the policy, and respondents are more likely to support policies put

TREATMENT MODEL

When the party they feel most represented by is the same as the party assigned to them in the
experiment, they are more likely to approve the policies
MODEL APROB OTHER

When another party promotes the

policy, it is less likely that the
respondent will approve it
MODEL APROB POLICY

approving the general policy and their
affiliation with the same party is observed.

the sample agree with STEM policies
regardless of their party affiliation.
RESULTS
