Q2: If company ABC declare a market value of share of Rs 132 and dividend 12%, while company
XYZ declare a market value of share of Rs 144 and dividend 16% and Face value for both the
companies is same i.eRs 100. Analyze that in which company the investment is more profitable.

Ans:2
For company ABC dividend yield calculation:
Dividend per share ¿ facevalue × dividend rate=100 ×12 % ( 0.12 ) =12 RS

12
Dividend yield¿ =-0.09090 or 9.90%
132

For company XYZ dividend yield calculation:

Dividend per share ¿ facevalue × dividend rate=100 ×16 % ( 0.16 )=16 RS

dividend per share 16

Dividend yield¿ = =0.1111∨11.11%
market value per share 144
Analysis:
Company XYZ has a higher dividend yield (11.11%) compared to company ABC (9.90%).
Higher dividend yield indicates a better return on investment concerning the market value of shares.
Based on dividend yield ,the investment in company XYZ seems more profitable in terms of the return
generated from dividends relative to the market value of shres.
