Isolation Procedure_V01

This Battery Charger/UPS isolation procedure will be used as a guideline for the isolation of Battery
Charger/UPS at Project/ O&M site.

2. Scope:

This Isolation procedure is to ensure Battery Charger/UPS isolation with standard procedures.

3. Terms and Abbreviations:

1. O&M : Operation & maintenance

2. LOTO : Lock Out Tag out
3. PPE : Personal Protective Equipment
4. B/D : Breakdown
5. UPS : Uninterrupted power supply
6. BB : Battery Bank

4. Responsibilities:

The O&M manager is responsible for making sure that Battery Charger/UPS is isolated in a
systematic and safe manner.

5. Process and Description:

Following activities will be performed for Isolation of Battery Charger/UPS at the solar power
plants. O&M Engineer’s physical presence is required to witness procedure at project site.

5.1. Required PPE’s:

5.2. Needed Accessories:

1. Logbook for entering details.

2. Torque wrench.
3. Multimeter
4. Infrared temperature gun
5. Spanner set

5.3. General Safety Requirement:

1. Work Permit must be filled for isolation.

2. Use proper & healthy PPE’s.
3. Use proper & healthy tools during work.
4. Only trained persons should perform isolation.
5. Never attend isolation alone.

5.4. Isolation of Battery Charger/UPS:

Switch off the MCB of UPS incoming and outgoing and use

LOTO.

Ensure that residual voltages are discharged after isolation and

Disconnect batteries if require.

4. Work can be started after completion of above procedure.
