Weighted Scoring Model and Results

The purpose of this weighted scoring model is to help Green decide which IT project can be
implemented at Woodland Supply in 2021.
The criteria that we took into consideration while creating weighted score model for all the
possible projects, were
1. Alignment with strategies (20%): This criterion evaluates the project’s alignment with the
organization’s strategies.
2. Cost effective (20%): This criterion checks if the project is cost effective based on the
budget.
3. Independence of business units (15%): The more independent the project is from external
business sponsors, the easier it will be to implement the project.
4. Time: The sooner the project can be completed, the better.
5. Maintenance Project (5%): Maintenance projects are quicker to be completed and
sometimes very important for the organization.
6. Building on existing technologies (10%): This criterion can lead to cost-cutting, which
makes it important.
7. Scope of Impact (20%): The amount of audience benefitting from audience will help in
deciding the projects important.
Each of the criterion is assigned a weight based on how important it is for Woodland Supply.
Each weight is in percentage. Scores are assigned to each project for every criterion based on
how beneficial the project would be for the given criteria. Scores are ranging from 1-100, with
100 being most beneficial.
Accordingly, weighted score is calculated by summing the products of weight of each criterion
and score of each project for that criterion.
Weighted score for a project= ((Weight of criteria 1*score for project) +(Weight of criteria
2*score for project)+…..)
After calculating the weighted score, we can see that the project, “Cloud Call Centre” has highest
weighted score and is more favorable based on the criterions chosen.
The Cloud Call Centre aims at developing a call center where customers can receive service at
any location of Woodland. This requires a lot of business changes, hence time efficiency in the
Weighted score model was 20. However, if this project is implemented a lot of customers will
benefit, hence the alignment with strategic goal and scope of impact, both has score of 100.
By using this weighted model, Green can plan on which project can be implemented at
Woodland Supply.
