TASK 08-10-00-200-001

Weighing and Balancing

1. __________________
Reason for the Job

This procedure gives data to find the operating empty weight of the aircraft
and to calculate the center of gravity.

NOTE : You can do this operation with the shock absorbers and the tires
____
deflated.

NOTE : To get accurate results, we recommend to weigh the aircraft on a

____
level area in a hangar with:
- the hangar doors and windows closed.
- the hangar heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems
stopped.
Wind and air flows prevent accurate results.

_________

Subtask 08-10-00-220-050

A. Weigh the Aircraft and Calculate the Position of the Center of Gravity

NOTE : You can weigh the

____ aircraft with:
- the aircraft on jacks
- the aircraft on its wheels
- the aircraft on landing gear jacks

(1) Weigh the aircraft on jacks and calculate the position of the center
of gravity.

NOTE : To weigh the aircraft on jacks, the aircraft must have a pitch
____
attitude of zero deg..

NOTE : You can refer to the Weight and Balance Manual to weigh the
____
aircraft and calculate the position of the center of gravity
(Ref. WBM 1-80-04).

NOTE : You can do this procedure with load cells on each jack or with
____
platform scales under each jack.
The load cells or the platform scales must have a capacity of:
- 7000 daN min. at nose landing gear
- 30000 daN min. at main landing gear

(a) Put the jacks and the weighing devices in position.

(b) Jack up the aircraft and make the aircraft level (Ref. TASK 08-
21-00-200-001).

(c) Calculate the aircraft weight W: W = RA + RV

W = aircraft weight
RA = reaction that you measure at the forward jack point.

NOTE : If you use platform scales, you must subtract the weight
____
of the jack.

RV = sum of the reactions that you measure at the wing jack

points.

NOTE : If you use platform scales, you must subtract the weight
____
of the jacks.

RC = Reference Chord

(d) Calculate the position of the center of gravity.
To do this, use the formula:
54.98 RV - 298.5 RA
CG (% RC) = -------------------
W

(e) Lower the aircraft on its wheels (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-586-002).

(2) Weigh the aircraft on its wheels and calculate the position of the
center of gravity.

(a) Refer to the Weight and Balance Manual to weigh the aircraft and
calculate the position of the center of gravity (Ref. WBM 1-80-
05).

(3) Weigh the aircraft on landing gear jacks and calculate the position
of the center of gravity.

(b) Jack up the aircraft (Ref. TASK 07-11-00-582-003).

(c) Refer to the Weight and Balance Manual to weigh the aircraft and
calculate the position of the center of gravity (Ref. WBM 1-80-
