Action- KUWENTO NI LOLA is a household name. she`s an
Adventure BASYANG elderly lady, or Lola in Filipino
language, who enjoys telling
children fantasy stories while
sitting in a Tuma or a rocking
chair. The majority of Lola
Basyang`s stories are about
foreign lands, kings and queens,
princes and princesses, mythical
creatures, magic and quests. Even
though she was an elderly lade,
her passion for telling a story to
the children are fully alive;
everyday she would tell stories to
the children and welcome them
into her home to listen to the
stories she would tell them. The
children loved all her stories
because she made them extra
enjoyable for them.
Fantasy, Ibong Adarna Jose Dela Cruz This story revolves around the
Folk-tale king who is sick, he sent out his
three sons to search for the Ibong
Adarna because it is the only cure
to his illness when the Adarna
bird sings to the king, he will be
cured and as a reward, whoever
catches the bird and bring him is
the one who will inherit the
throne and become the king. The
two older son of the king turn
into stone when they touch the
wrong bird and they use force in
order for them to be the first to
catch the Adarna bird. The
youngest son is the one who
catches the Adarna bird and the
 one who give it to the king.
Fiction, Florante at Laura Francisco This story is about what Florante
Epic-poetry Balagtas and Laura overcome to be
together for the sake of their love
together. Florante and Laura is a
love story from literary tradition
and to court with love and
fashion. Florante ais a supportive
lover and Laura us a beautiful
beloved. Their love overcome
even the powerful forces that
intercept their love for each other.
This story shows how much love
can do, you can even disobey and
fight for your family for the sake
of love. In the end they got
married and live the life they
want to have, and that is to be
together.
Fairy tale Abadeha Myrna J. De La This a version of Cinderella, in
Paz this version set in the Philippines,
Abadeha also endures the abuse
of her stepmother before being
helped by the spirit of the Forest
and becoming the bride of the
island chieftan`s son. Instead of a
glass shoes that can only fit in
Cinderella’s feet, the author use a
ring that only Abadeha can
remove, the prince find the ring
in the enchanted tree laden with
jewels, he wear the ring and his
finger began to swell and he
cannot remove the ring, they call
over all the babaylan in their
island to take off the ring but no
one can do it. Abadeha is the only
one who can remove it, when she
remove it, she marries the prince
and they lived happily ever after.
Fiction Ang mabait na Virgilio S. This story shows how kind the
kalabaw Almario carabao is,he is clean, friendly,
helpful, and well-loved by
everyone. This story show how to
be a good role model, like always
do the good things, gets along
with his fellows, has a love for
truth, kindness and beauty. This
story encourage the children to
imitate the carabao doings and be
a good kid and people in the
future.
