CO STATEMENT
At the end of the course, student will be able to
1 recognize parts of A.C. machines, understand what they do, and know the materials used
to make them.

learn about different types of single-phase motors, how they work, and how to test their
performance.

3 understand how three-phase motors create motion, learn about torque, and know how to
start them.

4 grasp how alternators produce electricity, understand different factors affecting their
operation, and know about modern excitation systems.

5 familiarise with various special machines and their purposes, including generators and
motors with unique designs.

6 learn about three-phase transformers, including how they're built, connected, and
maintained, and the difference between types used in power systems.

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
The subject electrical machine-II is a subject, which deals with the ac machines, induction
motors, synchronous alternators, fractional horse power motors and three phase transformers. In
this subject the construction, working principles, starting principles are to be studied. The testing
of the machines and the brief design ideas have also been included here. In addition to the
theoretical study of the topics as mentioned above care has been taken for including the practical
aspects of the topics. A few problems have been also included here, so that the student can
develop the problem solving attitude during their service career.
