When you purchase fresh-cut flowers, do you think about where they

came from? You might assume they were grown somewhere nearby. The

reality, though, is that the cut flower trade is increasingly international.

Today, thanks to airplanes and high-tech cooling systems, even the most

delicate flower can be exported and sold in a florist thousands of

kilometers from where it was grown.

When you order a pizza, do you think about where the ingredients came

from? You might assume they were produced locally. The reality, though,

is that the pizza industry is increasingly global. Today, thanks to

refrigerated trucks and fast delivery services, even the most exotic

topping can be imported and used in a pizzeria hundreds of kilometers

from where it was harvested.

When you buy a chocolate bar, do you think about where the cocoa

beans came from? You might assume they were grown in Africa. The

reality, though, is that the chocolate industry is increasingly diverse.

Today, thanks to climate change and fair trade initiatives, even the most

remote region can produce and export cocoa beans to a factory

thousands of kilometers from where they were cultivated.

一词多义:edge

As a noun, edge can mean a slight or marginal superiority or advantage

over someone or something. For example:

• He had an edge over his rivals in terms of experience.

• The home team had the edge in the first half of the game.

• She lost her competitive edge after the injury.

As a verb, edge can mean to give someone or something a slight or

marginal superiority or advantage over someone or something else. For

example:

• He edged ahead of the other runners in the final lap.

• She edged out her opponent in a close match.

• He edged up his grades by studying hard.

As an adjective, edge can mean having a sharp or biting quality, or being

tense or nervous. This sense of the word does not mean advantage, but

rather implies a state of alertness or intensity. For example:

• His voice had an edge of sarcasm.

• She felt a sudden edge of fear.

• He was on edge, waiting for the news.

foreseen. It is often used for something that happens without warning

or is surprising. For example:

anticipate. For example:

unpredictable are:

decision.

本性:nature

nature or nurture 天生的还是后天的

As a noun, nature can mean the basic or inherent features, character, or

qualities of something or someone. Some synonyms of nature in this

sense are: essence, character, identity, complexion, kind, and disposition.

For example:

•The nature of the problem is very complex.

•He has a generous and kind nature.

• She revealed her true nature in that moment.

A stereotype is any commonly known public belief about a certain social

group or a type of individual. Stereotypes are often confused with

prejudices, because, like prejudices, a stereotype is based on a prior

assumption. Stereotypes are often created about people of specific

cultures or races.
Why Making Assumptions is
Potentially Bad for your Business

Why is the subject of making assumptions so important?

When you make an assumption, you tell yourself that something is true

without actually having any evidence that it is. This can be very

detrimental to your business and clients.

Do not get me wrong, it can help in the planning process and managing

change, but needs to be done carefully as presuming something to be

true without evidence can cause problems unnecessarily.

So why do we make assumtions?

One way our brain saves energy is by making assumptions. We usually

draw on our past experiences to find patterns in how the world works.

When we encounter new situations, we apply these patterns, or

assumptions, to the new person or situation. This process saves us the

energy of analyzing each situation completely anew, which is why

naturally it can be so easy to do.

What is an example of an assumption?

An assumption is something that you assume to be the case, even

without proof. For example, people might make the assumption that

you're a nerd if you wear glasses, even though that's not true, or very

kind.

So it is like a judgement. Now judgements have intentions, actions and

words.

They can be useful to protect, support and guide us, However, it is

much better to first seek multiple perspectives.

I believe it is better to look at WHY you believe what you do about a

person or situation and reflect on where that is coming from.

How to stop making negative assumptions.

1. Mindfulness. Notice without judgment of any kind.

2. Let there be multiple possibilities, so open your mind.

3. Play with your worst-case scenario, if you are wrong…

4. Transform assumptions into questions to understand more.

5. Take initiative. Ask questions without filling in the gaps.

6. Use the free-time toward yourself knowing it will help your business.

7. Nourish your creativity, which is much easier when not assuming

anything.

Overall, I suggest being more aware whenever you feel yourself making

any assumption, no matter how obvious you think it is. Apply the points

above and above all, be open to change your opinion. After all, you

would not like someone judging and assuming something incorrect

about you without evidence.

So give people the opportunity to change, if needs be, and always bring

your positivity to the situation to define the experience for yourself in a

way that benefits you, your business, and the people involved.

If you would like help with any of this then please get in touch and we

can talk more and help you with both yourself and your business.

Have a wonderful week.

Disadvantages of globalization:
• Job displacement: Globalization can cause job displacement and

unemployment by increasing competition, outsourcing, and automation,

and by reducing the bargaining power and protection of workers.

• Cultural homogenization: Globalization can threaten cultural diversity

and identity by imposing dominant cultures, values, and languages on

others, and by eroding local traditions, customs, and norms.

• Environmental degradation: Globalization can harm the environment

by increasing the consumption of natural resources, the production of

waste and pollution, the emission of greenhouse gases, and the loss of
