From my point of view, providing financial support to electric car companies is a good idea.

I
totally agree with Maggie’s idea that people who are living in rural areas will not be benefited
from improving public transportation. I’d add that public transport such as buses still contributes
to climate change by releasing carbon dioxide. I think that providing financial support to electric
car companies and customers will encourage the purchase of electric cars. Because the company
will produce high quality cars with reasonable prices plus the government will support
purchasing of the car. In the long term, the number of gasoline powered cars will be reduced
significantly. Alex raised the relevant point that developing a system of public transport to make
it more convenient and reducing price will encourage consumers to take public transport rather
than their own car. However, I believe that developing system of public transport to increase
convenience to the level of personal car is impossible. Even if they managed to plan out the
perfect system for public transportation, the cost of implementing the system will be
enormously high and inevitably the price of transport will be expensive as well, this will not
attract consumer to take public transport instead of their own cars. Therefore, his point is that
making public transport more convenient and cheaper will encourage consumer to take public
transport lost validity.
