Release Date Subject MSB No.
2014-04-08 TRANSFER POSITION DETECTION SWITCH SYSTEM MSB-14EXL22_23-501

Code No.32, 33: Transfer detection switch system

OPERATION

System voltage is applied to the each detection switch (terminal No.1) from the transfer-ECU
(terminal No.43, No.44, No.45, No.46 or No.47).
The each detection switch is grounded through the transfer case to the vehicle body.

DIAGNOSIS CODE SET CONDITIONS

In the case that the transfer shifting has not been completed during driving, the code No.32 is set as
the open circuit or the short circuit of each transfer detection switch system, malfunction of the shift
actuator or the malfunction of the transfer shift mechanism. In the case that the input signal from
each transfer detection switch is unstable, the code No.33 is set as the open circuit or the short circuit
of each transfer detection switch system.

PROBABLE CAUSES

Malfunction of the each transfer detection switch

Damaged harness wires and connectors
Malfunction of the transfer-ECU
Malfunction of the shift actuator
Malfunction of the transfer shift mechanism
DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

STEP 1. M.U.T.-III actuator test

Replace the transfer shift lever switch (Refer

to ).

STEP 4. Measure the voltage at each

detection switch connectors C-08, C-
09, C-12, C-13, C-14.

(1)Disconnect the connectors, and measure the voltage

between terminal No.1 and earth at the wiring harness
side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 10.

Go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Measure the voltage at

transfer-ECU connector D-123.

(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage

between terminal No.43, No.44, No.45, No.46, No.47 and
earth at the wiring harness side.
(2)Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: System voltage

Q. Is the check result normal?

Go to Step 8.
Go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Connector check: C-08, C-09,
