Oral narrative: Seasons of India are majorly classified as Summer, Winter, Autumn, Spring and
Monsoon seasons. In Spring the weather is warm and sunny flowers are in bloom. Summer is the hottest
time of year in India. Monsoon season brings heavy rains. Autumn is a beautiful time of year in India and
leaves change colour. Winter is the coldest time of the years.

Sub-text: Ruskin Bond’s experiences in Mussoorie during a monsoon season. June 24th: Mist covers the

Sub-text: The drumming rain gives a feeling of being untouched by and yet in touch with the rain.
A song of whistling thrush emerges after the rain stops. On Aug 12 everything is damp and soggy because
of endless rain. The Sun is not seen for 8 or 9 days. The hillsides are lush with monsoon flowers like
dahlias, orchids, wild balsam, begonias etc. The seeds of cobra lily turns red to indicate that the rains are
coming to and end.

mail. During winter rain the sky and the hills are suffused with a beautiful golden light. The great trees
menace the author with their loneliness. After the hailstorm the author sees a rainbow forming.
