Project 1
Research Project
Brief
Due date: 7th Feb 24
25% of final grade

AIM: To develop a connection to the contemporary drawing approach and enhance analytical, critical
thinking, research and drawing skills.

Learning Outcomes:
1 sketchbook book
Preparatory drawings and exercises
1 essay and correlated final drawing

Project
This assignment will further introduce you to contemporary forms of drawing and the relationship of
drawing to painting, land art, sculpture, and installation. You will research artists, practice drawing skills
and create drawings inspired by artists. Please seek images online for each artist (at least four images per
artist and only their drawings-either work on paper or a wall) and try to find close-up studies of their work.
Save these images on your computer and print them in colour before each lesson. Begin working with each
image, drawing inspiration from each piece so that you can become better acquainted with the process of
drawing for each artist. Note: a biographical outline should be listed in your sketchbook as well as your own
observations, studies, and sketches. The project will culminate with 1 inspirational artist being chosen to
influence a duo of research essays and the drawing piece inspired by your essay and research.
