The Effect of Mango (Mangifera indica L.

) Leaves Concoctions on the Growth of

Pechay (Brassica rapa L.)
Introduction

Mangifera indica L. (Mango), a member of the Anacardiaceae family, is native to the tropical and
subtropical regions of the world. Leaves of M. indica exhibit pharmacological potential as a panacea.
(Humna Mehmood, Jawaria Mehmood, Noor Zulfiqar). Green and leafy, bok choy or pechay (Brassica
rapa L.) is a delightful and dynamic vegetable to utilize in the kitchen. Bok choy goes by many names,
but in the Philippines, we commonly refer to it as the popular pechay. The Philippines is abundant in fruit
and vegetable produce, as much of our land area is used for agricultural purposes (mayumi paras2023)

Concoctions made with mango (Mangifera indica L.) leaves in agriculture are quite uncommon
because kakawate, kangkong, and ipil ipil leaves are the most often utilized materials. We have no idea
how long it should be stored or whether it will work since it is new. To determine we will try three types
of leaves the young, matured, or dried, we had to try them shortly.

Concoctions made from mango (Mangifera indica L.) leaves in pechay (Brassica rapa L.) are
beneficial to both students and Filipino mango farmers, since they lessen the need to burn their leaves
because there is no other way to recycle them. Since this research is new, it will be a major contribution
to agriculture if it is effective. Mango leaves have been found to possess antibacterial and antioxidant
properties. Understanding their effects on crops can lead to the development of natural and sustainable
methods for protecting crops against bacterial diseases and promoting crop health

Significance of the Study

When mango (Mangifera indica L.) concoction is applied, the effect on pechay growth and
development is observed. It will assist in determining the effect of mango leaf concoctions by their
behavior (color, number of leaves, and canopy). It will evaluate the combined effects of mango
concoctions on growth.

Agriculture Student - Get the students to know a potential of mango leaf extracts for inhibiting the
growth of certain bacteria and fungi.
The Farmers- farmers will know the additional alternative concoction and will be benefits the mango
farmers.

This research will be conducting to know the effect of mango (Mangifera indica L.) leave
concoctions on the growth of pechay (Brassica rapa L.). It will be conducting in March to April at
president Ramon Magsaysay state university BOTOLAN CAMPUS. The observation will be 7days, and
measure will be using measuring tape to determine the height of pechay. This research will be focused on
the effect of mango (Mangifera indica L.) leaves concoctions on the growth of pechay (Brassica rapa L.).
