No. 3, series 2007 and CHED-DepEd Joint Order dated 01-08-07 the description of teaching responsibilities and
guidelines for student teachers are hereby specified.

I. Description of teaching responsibilities of student teacher:

The student teacher shall:


1. Participate actively in school-related activities, however, priority should be given to academic-related activities.
2. Notify the cooperating teacher prior to planned absences and during absences due to illness.
3. Consider and be open to constructive criticism.
4. Respect the dignity and rights of children.
5. Come to school always prepared.
6. Secure clearance from cooperating school upon completion of practice teaching hours.
7. Accomplish internship portfolio to be submitted for grading/evaluation to the respective course instructors and if so
required, to the cooperating schools; and
8. Project a good image as a teacher always by observing:
a. Code of ethics
b. Courtesy to all
c. Proper dress code
d. Punctuality in all activities of the internship.

II. Delivery of Experiential Learning Courses (Per JMC 01- series of 2020)

In the new normal, the following teaching-learning activities are expected in the experiential learning courses. The
adjustments on the tasks to be performed by the pre-service teacher are presented in the table below.

III. Guidelines for the student-teacher:

Following are the essential guidelines for you as a student-teacher should bear in mind. These should guide and govern
your actions and conduct as you carry out your role as a student teacher in the cooperating school you are accepted in.

1. Attendance is always required during school hours, in school functions, meetings and other activities organized by the
school, following all the safety protocol and standards. For this, a log sheet should be regularly filled out to be noted by
the respective cooperating teacher.
2. Official CIT student teachers’ log sheets at the guard house or principal’s office must be filled out upon arrival to and
before leaving the school every day; the same shall be noted by the cooperating teacher and principal at the end of the
month.
3. All forms must be submitted to the faculty in charge on or February 28, 2024.
4. The same shall be included in the portfolio among other appendices.
5. Should there be official CIT activities either virtual or face-to-face, where the presence of the student teacher is required,
a letter shall be sent to all cooperating schools to notify them of such activities.
6. Leaving the cooperating school’s premises on the pretext that a student teacher’s presence is needed in BUCIT, without
any official note from the college, shall not be allowed and therefore cannot be excused.
7. Should students accumulate five (5) or more unexcused absences, his/her stay in the cooperating school may be extended.
8. Under no circumstances should a student teacher be absent without notifying his/her cooperating teacher.
9. Should there be absence/s, which is not due to illness, go beyond one (1) day, the student-teacher should call the
cooperating teacher before each day of the planned absence.
10. The course facilitator should also be notified by the student teacher before any planned absence and during absence due
to illness.

11. In case of illness that lasts for three (3) or more days, a medical certificate should be submitted to the cooperating teacher
and a copy of which should be submitted to the college faculty in charge at the soonest possible time.
12. Tardiness is inexcusable and therefore should be avoided. Punctuality should be observed. In case it cannot be avoided
due to justifiable reasons, the student-teacher should notify his/her cooperating teacher of such.
a. Actual time-in should be recorded upon arrival in the cooperating school; and
b. Tardiness should not exceed an hour, or it shall be considered as an absence.
c. Official time in and out required by the cooperating school should be observed and which shall be the basis for the
computation of tardiness.
13. If at any rate, in the judgment of the college head and cooperating teacher and as specified in the students’ manual, the
student teacher’s absences and tardiness are excessive, the assignment as student-teacher may be terminated.
14. Student teachers should come to school always prepared and attend to the classroom routine activities without being
reminded by their supervising instructors or cooperating teachers.
15. When he/she is already given a teaching task, he/she should submit a detailed lesson plan, whether handwritten or printed
depending on the requirement of the cooperating teacher, at least 2 days before actual teaching.
16. Student-teachers should never refuse a teaching task due to the inability to complete a lesson plan and necessary
instructional materials, especially if the assigned topic is given two (2) or more days before actual teaching.
17. Student teachers should report to the assigned cooperating teacher’s classroom or wherever he/she is always assigned by
the school head or TLE head and not only during assigned teaching schedules.
18. At times that the student-teacher does not have a class schedule, he/she should observe the cooperating teacher in his/her
teaching strategies and classroom management; or
19. He/she should do other classroom tasks that may be assigned to him or her from time to time, such as giving assistance to
the cooperating teacher in classroom management, decorating the bulletin board, beautification of the classroom
beautification, etc.
20. Acceptable school attire should be worn during school hours as well as during school functions unless advised. The
following must likewise be religiously observed:
a. Professionalism in attire and grooming should be exhibited within the school premises.
b. BUCIT ID should be always worn.
c. BUCIT uniform should be worn by the student-teachers: white blouse, black slacks or black knee-length skirt and
black closed shoes with at least 1-inch heels (for female) and white polo with black slacks and black shoes (for male)
d. Shorts, mini-skirts, flip-flops, revealing or tight-fighting clothing and those with offensive statements should not be
worn in the cooperating school.
e. Male student-teachers must refrain from wearing tight-fighting pants and clogs or feminine-heeled shoes.
f. Tattoos, if any, must not be exhibited or must be covered.
g. Excessive body piercings such as nose ring, tongue or lip studs are prohibited.
h. Long hair for the male is likewise prohibited; the male should exhibit appropriate hairstyle; and
i. Brightly dyed hair, like bright orange, pink or glaring red in both male and female is likewise prohibited.
21. The student teacher should show pride in and consider himself/herself a member of the profession. He/she should
therefore always act according to established ethics in all matters, such as:
a. Conforms to the cooperating school’s regulations covering teaching conduct.
b. Recognizes that any misconduct reflects the teacher-education institution which he/she represents; and
c. Having voluntarily chosen the teacher-education institution, he/she should uphold the standard of the said institution
in his professional conduct.
22. Confidentiality should be observed by the student-teacher in all matters concerning his/her individual student, colleagues,
cooperating teachers and other teachers at the cooperating school.
23. He/she should never interfere in personal matters, such as misunderstandings and the like among teachers and
cooperating teachers.
24. The student-teacher should always respect the dignity and rights of children; hence, he/she should exercise
understanding, consistency, and fairness in dealing with students even for disciplinary actions.
25. The student-teacher should be culturally sensitive, hence should refrain from imposing his/her religious or political views
upon his students.
26. The student-teacher should be a physical, mental, intellectual, moral, and ethical example to his/her students; thus he/she
should exemplify maturity and emotional stability in the way he/she acts, especially during emergencies.
27. The student-teacher should develop a learning program oriented towards the individual capacity of his/her students and
should create a social climate which encourages personal integrity and societal responsibility.
28. The student-teacher should have a daily log notebook to record his/her daily classroom experiences and student
observations including suggestions/comments made by the cooperating teacher during post conferences regarding his/her
teaching demonstration.
29. Daily log notebook should be presented every weekend or whenever required to the Educ 14 professor for signature.
30. The student-teacher should be aware of the legal responsibilities of a teacher. The supervising teacher is legally
responsible for and in control of class; therefore, he/she assumes only the authority which has been delegated to him/her.
31. The student-teacher should act only through accepted channels of communication and authority in the school system. If
he/she is having difficulty in a professional situation, he/she must first consult the supervising teacher. If he/desires
additional aid, he/she may take the matter to the experiential learning coordinator.
32. The student-teacher begins his/her pledge for lifelong learning; hence, he/she should be updated on new ideas along his
field of specialization, professional matters, and current affairs.
33. The student-teacher should accomplish the internship portfolio and submit the same, in parts, for checking and grading, to
the assigned faculty in-charge on dates given by the latter.
34. Contents and order of the contents of the portfolio shall be given during the pre-service teachers’ orientation.

35. The portfolio should be noted and signed by the cooperating teacher; otherwise, it will be deemed unofficial and thus,
incomplete.
