This manual is for operators, technicians, distributors and Konami Gaming service personnel. It
provides useful information for operating the Concerto, to aid in the setup, operation, and
maintenance of the machine. Each section is conveniently labeled and contains detailed
descriptions and step-by-step instructions including relevant screen shots and best practice
recommendations.

Game Screen
The game theme screen contains useful information for game play, winning combinations, as
well as diagnostics. All pays are left to right only, unless otherwise specified in the game pay
table.

Middle Section- Displays some hard tilts, errors, events, jackpots, hand pays, game
area, and number of fixed lines available
Lower Section- Displays credits, bet and win areas. Also contains the denomination,
help, volume buttons and minimum bet information
Yellow colored tilts have been fixed and will clear after the next game is played
Red colored tilts need to be fixed and will change to a yellow message when
repaired
ASSET: Tilts may still require a turn of the reset key or opening the main door, resetting
the game, and then closing the door.
The candle on top of the machine illuminates or flashes to alert floor attendants and slot
technicians that the machine is either in need of service or that the customer needs assistance.
The candle is located above the top box.
NOTE: Various color candle filters are available and are sometimes used to denote different
denominations of gaming machines.
NOTE: The lighting function is controlled by the options from the jurisdictionally specific RAM
clear used, and may differ from the above listed functions.
Power Supply
The Power Supply assembly consists of two (2) switching power supplies:
The red Solid State Relay is for monitoring A/C line voltage by the Main Board.
Power Switch
The Power Switch is a black rocker switch located on the left side of the cabinet, below and
behind the white cherry door switches.
Backplane
The backplane is a board on which the main circuit boards of the EGM are connected,
providing processing power, memory, I/O and slots for plug-in cards.

CAUTION: Always check the CF3 and CF4 for the “Designator.” A designation of “M” on the
bottom of the CF card will indicate that it ONLY works on the new KP3.5 board.
Supported Printers
Ticket-in, Ticket-out (TiTo) printer machines are used to print out a slip of paper, with a barcode,
indicating an amount of money represented from the game play. These slips may be redeemed
for cash and/or reinserted into other EGMs, for which the remaining credit may be used for play.

In the event there is a printer jam, the machine will display “PRINTER JAM” or a similar message
on the ‘Game Area’ (middle of the screen) of the monitor. Clear the paper jam from the printer
then reset the paper. Insert the reset key into ‘TILT/RESET/AUDIT’ key switch, turn it clockwise
90° and return, thus, resetting the machine to game play mode.

TROUBLESHOOTING: Handling a Bill Jam
In the event there is a bill jam, the machine will display “BILL JAM IN ACCEPTOR” or a similar
message on the ‘Game Area’ (middle of the screen) of the monitor. Clear the bill jam from the
acceptor then reset the validator. If necessary, reset the game.
1) INSERT key into the cylinder on the right side of the cabinet.
2) TURN the key clockwise and PRESS the sub door lever
3) The sub door will automatically open. REMOVE the key from the cylinder
1) INSERT the key into the cylinder on the ride side of the bill door
3) OPEN the door, TURN the key clockwise, then REMOVE from the cylinder
4) CONTINUE OPENING the bill door until it is completely open and HELD with the
magnet
Display Door
The release for the display
door is accessed by opening
the main door deck and
releasing the latch.
The release is hidden behind and under the main door deck.
To REMOVE the display door from the monitor, PERFORM the following steps:

1) Add the Compact Flash Card to the Main KP3+ Board in Slot CF3 (located on the lower right
side)
NOTE: For more information on setting the options, refer to pages 42-55 of this manual.
TIP: Prior to performing a RAM Clear- record all progressive meters, as well as, all game
settings.
3) REMOVE the MPU Board and INSTALL the RAM Clear (Game Initialization)
Compact Flash Card into the lower Compact Flash Card connector on the underside
of the MPU (CF Slot: 2)
4) REINSERT the MPU Board to its slot, by PRESSING firmly on the front edge of the
board, and then making sure that the board is fully engaged
5) POWER up the machine and PRESS the ‘flashing button’, when prompted, to
complete the RAM Clear procedure (Resets soft meters and EGM history)
6) PRESS the “CHANGE” button to reset all the settings to their default values
NOTE: Resetting all configurations is highly recommended for initial game setup,
conversions, platform upgrades and error recovery.
CAUTION: Pressing the “SPIN” button will keep all previous settings EXCEPT the
standalone progressive settings and current amounts.
TIP: When the setup menu is displayed, VERIFY every option on every screen.
7) CONFIGURE, and VERIFY the EGM options by using the touchscreen menus or
the buttons
8) When finished changing the options, press the “Bet Max” button to exit and wait for the
screen below to appear
9) POWER “OFF” the EGM, REMOVE the RAM Clear Compact Flash Card from CF2 slot
NOTE: The information in this guide is intended to highlight certain options for the EGM and
does not detail all options currently available. Refer to the KP3+ Setup Manual for a
comprehensive list and description of all available options.
Field Service Technicians can log in to the FTP site to view (or download) the KP3+
Setup Manual for additional information.
The KMS Main Screen is accessed by turning the “Reset” switch counterclockwise to the audit
position. If the main door is closed, the only menu options available will be “Audit” and “Game
Recall.” The main door must be open to access the “Setup,” “Diagnostic,” and “Out of Service”
menu options.
1) TURN the “Reset” switch counterclockwise to the audit position two (2) times
TIP: The main door does not need to be opened to return to game play.
Audit - Bill In
To access the Bill In Log:
1) SELECT the “Audit” menu button from the KMS Main Screen
2) SELECT the “Logs” menu button
3) SELECT the “Bill In” menu button
4) SELECT the “Exit” button when finished
The Bill In Audit Log will display the last 80 records of bills accepted by the bill validator
detailing:

Time
Denomination of bill
TIP: To scroll through multiple pages of bill in records, use the “Previous Page” and the
“Next Page” menu buttons as needed.
Audit - Ticket In
To access the Ticket In Log:
1) SELECT the “Audit” menu button from the KMS Main Screen
2) SELECT the “Logs” menu button
3) SELECT the “Ticket In” menu button
4) SELECT the “Exit” button when finished
The Ticket In Audit Log will display the last 40 records of tickets accepted by the bill validator
detailing:

Last 4 Digits of the Validation Number
TIP: To scroll through multiple pages of ticket in records, use the “Previous Page” and
the “Next Page” menu buttons as needed.
The Cashout Audit Log will display the last 40 records of cashout events detailing:

Player’s Credit (amount player had on the meter)
Mini Game (amount awarded from any mini game triggered prior to cashout)

Audit- Cashout
The Cashout Audit Log will display the last 50 records of cashout events including:

NOTE: Only WV, RI, NC, General International and France RAM Clear key use the
standard style -40 games, 150 steps total.
1B) Screen 2- Graphical presentation of game end and each line won
NOTE: The “Game Recall” menu will display the most recent 10 games, and up to 3 screens each
associated with the 10 games. The game recall numbering system explained is as follows:

Setup
The setup screen is where the options for the EGM are selected to edit configurations per the
casino or jurisdiction’s requirements.
Options can only be changed when there are no credits on the machine
Options that are not highlighted white may only be changed during a RAM Clear or
cannot be changed
After an option has been changed, resetting/rebooting the machine may be required
before returning to the game play mode
TIP: To scroll through multiple choices, use the “Previous Item” and the “Next Item”
menu buttons as needed.
Credit Limit- The maximum number of credits in dollar amount. Default is $3,000. Non-
default range is $0.01- $99,999.99
Hopper Limit- The maximum amount the machine can cash out at one time. The game
will pay credits up to this limit and pay remaining credits by ticket (no limit). If this option
is set to 0, the game will cash out player’s credits by ticket.
Jackpot Reset Limit- Any single win over this limit is not eligible for resetting jackpot to
credit meter
Machine Cashout Limit- The total amount the machine can pay with tickets and coins.
Any cashout over this amount will go to an attendant pay, even if the partial pay option is
enabled
Ticket Limit- The maximum amount that can be printed on a ticket
Mystery Jackpot Threshold- Any mystery jackpot win over this amount will result in a
jackpot handpay for the entire amount of the win
Disable: The machine does not include tickets and vouchers in the total amount
Enable: The machine includes total amount with tickets and/or vouchers
Disable: The machine does not include EFT/AFT transfers in the total amount
Enable: The machine includes total amount with EFT/AFT transfers
Secondary Hopper- Hopper limit when the ticketing system is not operational
Jackpot Reset to Credit
Disable: The machine will pay the jackpot amount by handpay
Enable: The machine will pay the jackpot amount to the credit meter
Partial Pay-
Disable: Partial pay is not allowed. The machine will cashout by a cashout
device which is capable to pay out the entire cashout amount
Enable: Partial pay is allowed. In cashout, the machine will use the hopper
and/or ticket as cashout devices. If the cashout amount is larger than the
cashout limit of each device and this option is allowed, the machine will cash out
the amount with the devices up to its limit.
Auto Cashout-
Disable: Make the machine disabled not to cashout by host
Enable: If disabled by host while it’s enabled with credits on the credit meter, the
machine will cash out automatically

4D) Cashable Voucher Expiration- Sets the number of days before the cashable voucher
expires; which can be overridden by the system.
4E) Promotional Coupon Expiration- Sets the number of days before the promotional coupon
expires; which can be overridden by the system.
4F) UTC Offset- Local time offset to UTC time used for 2-D bar code tickets. This option is
meaningful only in conjunction with G2S/DM Extensions, and is set from the G2S host.
4G) Location- Operator editable text string for the location of the machine
4H) Address 1- Operator editable text string for line 1 of the address
4I) Address 2- Operator editable text string for line 2 of the address

Attract Mode:
The interval setting determines how often the Konami logo is shown.
If set to “1,” the logo will be shown after every time the screensaver animation plays
If set to “2,” the logo will be shown every other time the screensaver animation plays
If set to “3,” the logo will result in every third time, etc.
This determines which screens the Konami logo will be displayed on. Options are:

NONE
When enabled, the player can stop the reels by pressing the spin button while the reels are
spinning.
The display resolution allows for compatibility with SYNKROS and other manufacturer’s picture-
in picture devices with different resolutions.
Use a resolution of 1680 x 1050 for EGMs with True-Time Windowing and 1920 x 1080 (Default
setting) for EGMs without True-Time Windowing.
E-Art Tab
Idle +
When a non-Monument and non-Family extended game is installed, the primary game E-Art is
now shown periodically during idle. The two (2) new settings for idle+ are:
1) E-Art (determine how long in seconds the screen is shown)
2) Meters (determine how long in seconds the screen is shown)
EXAMPLE: If E-Art is set to 5 and Meters is set to 7, then the primary game E-Art will display for
5 seconds before switching to the extended game meters which will be shown for 7
seconds before switching back to the primary game E-Art.
Topper Tab
The Concerto may include an optional digital topper display which has a candle positioned above
the topper. The topper can display a Konami logo, game e-art & game title, machine denomination
or the SeleXion logo.
Button Tab
The button tab allows an operator to choose which sub functions they wish to program for each of
the digital buttons.
TIP: To toggle through multiple choices, use the “Previous Item” and the “Next Item”
menu buttons as needed. Once an item has been selected, CLICK on the “Select
Item” button. When finished, CLICK on the “Exit” button.

Glossary of EGM Terms
Many of the words and phrases used throughout this training guide refer to the Electronic Gaming Machine
(EGM) components. Listed below are the most commonly used terms and their definitions.
Term Definition
All Reset Clears the contents of the backup memory such as the credit, software
meter, and game log and initializes the setting of the machine.
Audit Key Switch Key switch located on the right side of the machine, used to access the
audit menu.
Audit Meters General and detailed meters tracking coin in, coin out, attendant pay, and
bill in information.
Backplane PCB board located in the back of the machine behind the logic box.
Bill Entry The plastic bezel that guides the bill from the front of the machine into the
bill validator.
Bill Meters Internal meters that track bills in data.
Bill Stacker Door Lock Lock on the door of the bill validator restricting access to the stacked bills.
Bill Stacker Door Switch Security switch that activates when the bill stacker door is opened.
Bill Stacker Switch Security switch that activates when the bill stacker is removed.
Bill Validator Unit Unit that accepts valid currency while rejecting invalid bills.
Bolster Armrest.
B-top Intermediate top box.
Cabinet Speaker Speaker mounted inside the machine cabinet.
Candle Light mounted on the top of the machine, used to display errors, jackpots
or other conditions.
Cash Ticket Log Displays the history of cash tickets that occurred recently (ticket #, date &
time, amount of ticket, status, and validation information).
Cashout Log Displays the history of cashouts that occurred recently (date & time and
amount).
Clock Internal timing device used to track date, time, and year of events.
Coin Acceptor Device to identify coins.
Coin Drop Sensor Sensor to detect reverse coin movement.
Coin Entry The location on the main door where coins are inserted into the machine.
Coin Hopper Motor driven device used to return coins to the player.
Coin Track Unit Name for the coin traveling path.
Coin Tray Enclosure on the bottom of the main door used to catch and hold coins
paid from the hopper.
Control Panel Unit Button panel that houses the play button as well as other game buttons.
Controller The touch screen controller.
Term Definition
Counter PCB PCB holding the EM meters.
Counter Unit Assembly consisting of the counter PCB and the housing, light, and wire
harness.
Dashboard The dashboard displays the game status information, attendant
messages, game instructions, denomination sign, and other meters.
DC Fan 12VDC cooling fan.
Door Lock Sensor Sensor used to determine the position of the door lock cam or door lock.
Drop Box Switch Switch used to determine when the drop door has been opened.
EM Counter Electro-mechanical counter (meter).
Event An occurrence that is tracked by the soft meters for display in an event
log.
Event Log Displays a list of the date & times and the factors of events that recently
occurred.
Event Meter Internal meter that tracks the cumulative number of events.
Function Button Buttons attached to the monitor mask on the left side of the game (usually
Cash Out, Pay Table, or Help).
Function Button Panel The assembly holding the function buttons.
Game Area The game area displays images that correspond to the game type.
Game Screen The game screen is composed of four areas which are game area, sub
game area, sub message area, and dashboard.
I/O Test Input/Output test.
JP Reset Jackpot reset.
Jumper sockets Sockets on a PCB allowing multiple settings by shorting the connector,
thereby changing the configuration.
Key Switch An electro-mechanical switch activated by using a key.
KMS Konami Maintenance System.
LED PCB PCB to control LED of bill acceptor.
Logic Door Lock Lock used to secure the logic door.
Logic Door Switch Switch used to monitor the logic door position (opened or closed).
Machine Type Series name of the machine cabinet.
Main Door The front door of the machine holding the player button panel, function
button panel, and the coin head.
Main Door Switch The switch monitoring the position of the main door (opened or closed).
Manufacture Date The date the machine was manufactured.
Menu The display structure for software meters, game recall meters, event
meters, option meters, diagnostic meters, clock, audit information, and
other miscellaneous meters.
Monitor Mask Panel to make the screen easier to see by blocking any light from the
inside.
Option Buttons Buttons used to navigate the menu items.
Out of Service An operator induced setting allowing no game play until reset.
Term Definition
Play Button Panel The button panel holding the player buttons, e.g., Bet 1, Bet 5, Play 5
Lines, etc.
Power Supply Unit The assembly in the cabinet holding the power supply.
Power Switch Unit The assembly in the cabinet holding the main power switch.
RAM Random Access Memory.
RNG Test Inspects the on-board RNG (Random Number Generator).
ROM Read Only Memory.
Reset-Key A key used to clear error messages, jackpots, or attendant pays. Returns
the machine to game play mode.
SAS Board Slot account system I/F PCB.
Serial Number A unique number used to identify a particular machine.
Serial Number Plate Plate attached to the side of a machine with serial number, manufacture
date, and machine type information stamped on it.
Software Meters Internal meters used to track money movement, errors, and events.
Sub Game Area The sub game area displays the game title and featured game image.
Sub-Door The door mounted to the bottom of the main door. Allows access to the
bill validator stacker assembly.
Sub-Door Artwork Sub-door glass panel printed with the game theme design.
Sub-Door Switch Switch to sense when the sub-door is opened or closed.
Sub Message Area The sub message area displays the online commercial message or
another information message.
Top Box The upper enclosure mounted to the top of the cabinet.
Top Box Lock A lock to secure the top box door.
Touch Screen A screen that allows pressing of certain areas on the screen to act as
buttons or select options.
UART Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter.
Video Monitor Unit RGB LCD used to display game information.
Appendix B
Term Definition
Address A unique numeric identifier for each device (interface card or media
player) used to direct the flow of information to and from the jackpot
controller.
Base Amount The starting point of a progressive level when first programmed.
Increment % The percentage of coin-in that will be added to the progressive level. For
example, 0.25% would mean that for every four ($4.00) dollars played, 1
cent ($0.01) will be added to the progressive level.
Level An individual progressive level set up within the jackpot controller and
displayed on the gaming machine main screen, gaming machine top
screen, or an overhead LCD.
Protocol Refers to the set of digital rules used for communication between
devices.
Reset Amount The amount a progressive level will start over at the base amount when
that level is hit and awarded.
Standalone Progressive A progressive level or set of levels programmed to run on only one
gaming machine.
