LABOR LAWS AND LEGISLATION

Course Description:

A course in labor laws and their implications is crucial for informed decision-
making and sustainable success in today's dynamic business landscape. This course
equips students with a strong foundation in Philippine labor laws, empowering them to
navigate sensitive employee relations, manage risks, and optimise business operations
while upholding ethical standards

General Objectives:

At the end of this course, the students are expected to:


1. Analyse the legal framework regulating labor relations in the Philippines;
2. Evaluate implications of labor laws on business operations and financial performance;
3. Apply legal principles to make informed decisions regarding employee relations,
compensations, and contracts;
4. Identify strategies for mitigating legal risks and promoting positive labor relations; and
5. Evaluate how recent labor trends and legislative changes impact organisations;
competitiveness.

Credits: 3.0
Pre-requisite:
Academic Counselling: Thursday (2-4)
Grading Scheme: Assignment = 10% AQR = 60%
Paper = 30 % Exam = 40%
Report = 20 % Total = 100%
