2.2 - 10 Codes
So once the traffic stop is performed and you have gotten the registration information you can then go back to your
vehicle and do the next procedure.
3. Traffic Stop
3.1 - Traffic Stop Procedure
Step by step procedure for a traffic stop:
1. Switch lights to code 2 and activate the Whelen Takedown to make the vehicle pull to the
right. Face the front of the vehicle to the left and activate the directional (If equipped) to direct
any oncoming traffic around you
2. Announce in teamspeak your cop number and that you have a 10-38 @ [Location], vehicle
description and how many occupants within the vehicle
3. Approach the vehicle just behind the back of the driver door. Announce your name and that
you are from the LSPD Department. Ask them if they know why you have pulled them over? If
they say no or the incorrect answer explain in detail why you have pulled them over.
4. Next stand back slightly and ask them to step out of the vehicle with their licence and
registration, and ask them to sit to the far right of their vehicle. Press ‘windows’ on them and
click check licences to make sure that they have a proper licence according to the vehicle they
were driving. Warn them that while you go back to your vehicle to check warrants that if
they are to stand up they will have to be restrained for their own and your safety. If they have a
passenger with them tell them to lock the vehicle and to keep the passenger within the vehicle.
5. Walk slowly back to your vehicle not taking your eye off of the suspect, ask the dispatch for a
10-29 on [PlayerName]. If they say they are all clear then you can ticket the player according to
the right offence. However if they are to call a 10-99 call for immediate backup and stay in
your vehicle until backup arrives. You will then perform an armed detainment (Explained in
another section) If no dispatch is on press 4 and check that player has no warrants (Follow
standard 10-99 procedure if player has warrants)
6. If player is set free release the suspect wishing them a good day and tell them to drive safely.
Do not leave until the suspect has drove off. You then need to radio out that [Cop Number] is
now free from the traffic stop and available for calls.
