WATER
EMERGENCY
ACTION PLAN
Introduction

Regardless of one's swimming ability, an emergency can occur in

or around the water. Because of an unexpected illness or accident, a

good swimmer may find themselves unable to swim. A rip current

or a wave could take down a non-swimmer who is playing in

shallow water. As a life-saver, you must be vigilant and able to tell

whether someone is having a problem in the water.
