Summary IMO NOx emission test on one(1) main propulsion engine for Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Hull No.2013-1077 was carried out as parent engine of the HYUNDAL-MAN B&W 6S6OME-C-2016-05-AA5905, at test bed in order to fully meet the IMO NOx Technical code. However, if this group has member engines, additional IMO NOx compliance test for them is not to be performed because it can be considered as identical engines having the same NOx relevant components, rated power, rated RPM, nearly similar setting values and also identical IMO ID numbers compared with the Parent Engine. 1. Calibrations of Zero & Span for gas analyzers were successfully carried out under the presence of the surveyor (s). 2. Analyzers and calibration gases have been confirmed in compliance with the IMO NOx Technical ) Code by the surveyor(s). 3. Calculations of the emission value and exhaust, gases emission have been done according to the IMO NOx Technical Code as follows (1) Humidity correction factors for NOx for diesel engines (Khd) have been calculated according to formula(17) of 5.12.4.6 on the IMO NOx Technical Code. (2) Humidity of intake air(Ha) according to formula(9) of 5.12.3.2 on the IMO NOx Technical Code. (3) Dry to wet correction factor (Kwr2) for the raw exhaust gas according to formula(11) of 6.12.3.2 on the IMO NOx Technical Code. (4) The exhaust gas mass flows were calculated according to Carbon balance method, of Appendix 6 on the IMO NOx Technical Code. (8) The NOx emission value was corrected to reference conditions as shown in Chapter 18 which includes a scavenge air cooler fresh water coolant inlet temperature of 36 0 when operating ) under reference condltions-25 0 sea water temperature for central fresh water cooling system, whereas @ scavenge air cooler sea water coolant inlet temperature of 25 © for conventional sea water cooling system. Basically, charge air cooling system for this group is shown in the Chapter F, ‘List of NOx Relevant Components and Setting” and the Chapter N, "Engine Group Information". 4. The certificates for analytical instruments and calibration gases were not included in this Technical File because they had been checked and confirmed by surveyor during NOx emissions test. However, summarized information on the analytical instruments can be seen on Chapter O, Test Cell Information in this Technical File. Finally, the test result (Economy Mode NOx : 13.26 g/kWh) for parent engine which is corrected to ISO NOx values based on reference Pmax and scaveng temperature as mentioned in Chapter 1.8, HYUNDAI-MAN B&W 8S60ME-C-2015-05-AA5905 is showed far less than IMO NOx limit (14.4 gi ‘Ai4-598985-7.0 ENGINE & MACHINERY DIVISION PAGE 4 . Concept of Parent, Member Engine and Engine Group Conditions for the application of this group concept are a set of identical engines having the identical components, same maximum power per cylinder and same rated speed. The engine manufacturer should show a "Conformity of Production” in the production process. This includes ISO 9001 certificates or other quality insuring systems which should guarantee that member engines of engine group are identical Idea of this group concept is to have @ need for emission measurements only for an engine, the so called “Parent Engine" and not need for emission measurements only for an engine, the so called "Member Engine”. All the following identical engines can be adjusted and certified according to the procedures described in this page and according to the "List of NOx Relevant Components and Settings" on Chapter F. Conditions for an Engine to be a member of the Engine Group, 1. Identical Components : Tuming the crankthrow towards the exhaust side, to provide access for measuring the thickness of the shim which is instead between piston rod and crosshead pin. If this is not the case the engine manufacturer has to show that the modified or exchanged components behave in the same way. 2. Same settings All settings and measured values according to the "List of NOx Relevant Components and Settings" on Chapter F should be identical "A14-598085-7.0 ENGINE & MACHINERY DIVISION AHYUNDAL Technical File K. Marking of Identification Number of the NOx Relevant Components 4. ECS survey instruction The Engine Control System (ECS) on an ME/ME-C type engine takes the place of the common MC engine ‘governor and cams for fuel injection and exhasut cam timing, The ECS operates through an individual Cylinder Controller Unit(CCU), Engine Control Unti(ECU), ‘Therefore, the ECS in IMO emission respect takes the place of not only the engineer adjusting the engine timing events but also of the fuel injection. le. in IMO survey respect partly controlling the engine adjustments or settings and partly the fuel injection. ‘The ECS component and its settings can be verified by use of one of the Main Operating Panels (MOPs) in the engine control room (see the ‘Operation - Run’ MOP screen where the engine running mode is selected.) On the MOP (see the ‘System - Component’ MOP screen) select the ‘Component screen either by touch activation or track ball, This screen displays data identifying the installation. In the ‘System information’ section following parameters can be checked 1. Engine Group No. 2. Engine No. 3. A date and time stamp is given at the bottom right hand corner of the screen included in the respective checksums, ‘A14-598985-7.0 ENGINE & MACHINERY DIVISION PAGE 23 A Technical File Hany nese cat Then control of the software setting is divided in different checksum types, two of which are important for the engine NOx characteristic (see the ‘Operation-Cyl. Press’ MOP engine adjustment screens:) 1. The IMO Design’ checksum and, 2. The IMO Chief checksum The ‘IMO design’ checksum can only be changed by authorized MD&T and/or HHI service ‘engineers not on "IMO Chief level or by ambient conditions. This IMO Design’ checksum deals with the reference condition setting of the engine (|.e the load dependent shape of the compression pressure (Pcomp/Pscav) and the maximum pressure (P_rise). The ‘IMO chief checksum is used for common engine adjustment parameters. The on-board survey for the ME/ME-C type engine is similar to the “no VIT" MC engine, since the load dependent shape of the Pcomp and Pmax curves cannot change shown on shop test report. If one or more parameters are changed a checksum will also change. Due to the number of these parameters this checksum approach is very efficient, while stil providing the required safety against undetected parameter changes. Due to practical citcumstances, it has been chosen to calculate a ‘checksum for each relevant controller in the ECS {the Cylinder Control Unit (CCU), Engine Control Unti(ECU)] ‘The MOP operation procedures are described in detail in the ME/ME-C type engine instruction book. ‘Summary of ECS on-board survey Software 1. Check ECU checksums for IMO Design’ and 'IMO Chief(see same screen: controller information) 2. Check CCU checksums for ‘IMO Design’ and ‘IMO Chief(see same screen; controller information) 3. The survey output shall be added to the record book on board. ‘The'Refresh’ Button should be pressed in order to ensure that the checksums are updated before they are noted(or printed) Compliance is verified when version number and ‘IMO Design’ parameter checksums for all the units (i.e. ECU and CCU) are in accordance with Tables F.1. in the Technical File. ‘And additionally, when the ‘IMO Chief parameter checksums either are in accordance with Table F.1. or the performance parameters in the ‘standard performance parameter survey’ are within the tolerances. specified in Table F.2. and |.5 ‘A14-598985-7.0 ENGINE & MACHINERY DIVISION PAGE 24 AHYUNDAI Technical File Test Report and Certificates After the IMO NOx pre-certification test at test bed, 1.
