Philosophy IV General Sociology

1) Why is it important for the HRMS to include the study of General

Sociology in their tertiary curriculum. Explain your answer.

The Seminary is a home for aspiring priests in the Archdiocese of

Caceres who will be carrying out Jesus' Gospel. The Seminary is unlike
any other institution in the world since it is more of a "home" than a
school. As a result, seminarians vary from other students in many ways,
because they study not to become professionals, but to save countless
souls. This "saving" of souls is an act that must be earned and
performed; in order to rescue even a single soul, a priest must be well-
versed in societal matters. As a result, the topic of "sociology" plays a
significant role in the construction of the formandi. Because sociology
provides them with background information about the society, they are
better equipped to cope, adapt, and "makisama" with their
parishioners.

Sociology also makes seminarians aware of the present difficulties

that society is facing as future pastors of the Church. They should be
able to adjust to various groups as well as recognize and assess the
"trend" that is occurring. As a result, it is only appropriate and
necessary that sociology be included in the Holy Rosary Major
Seminary's curriculum.

2) Explain fully why the FAMILY is considered to be the basic social

institution. Connect your answer to your socialization, cultural
experiences & informal education experiences you had with its
members.

The family is society's most fundamental unit. It is described as a
kinship component that connects a person to his or her forefathers.
The most essential factor in forming and defining a person's personality
and viewpoints is their family. It also contributes significantly to the
society's stability. Because it is a fundamental social institution, it is
dependent on the tasks it performs for the existence of all other social
institutions.

As a family member, I am supposed to return the love and

support that I have received. In my family in case, there are specific
duties that I must fulfill. If I am a parent, for example, I am expected to
offer both financial and emotional support to my family. I am supposed
to be a responsible and obedient kid if I am a youngster. If I have
siblings, I will be required to care after them as well as assist with
certain home duties.

Few of the socializations, cultural experiences, and informal

education that I had with my family are the following:

 First and foremost, my family is the key source of

socialization for me. Without effective socialization of its
youth, no civilization can exist. In most countries, the family
is the primary unit through which people socialize. From the
moment I was born, I, together with my family, assisted me
in becoming socially conscious and taught me how to
socialize.
 Second, my family became a significant source of both
practical and emotional support for me. They fed me,
clothed me, and assisted me in moments of mental
hardship, among other things.

 Finally, they gave me a sense of social identity. I was born
into the socioeconomic class, color and ethnicity, religion,
and other characteristics of my parents. Since of the social
identity I inherited from my parents, I have had many
benefits throughout my life, but others have had several
challenges because the social class or race/ethnicity into
which they were born is at the bottom of the social
hierarchy.

3) Lately, members of Pastor Quiboloy's sect here in the Philippines &

abroad, complained & expressed through the media, how they were
exploited by the organization's leaders. If your aid is considered, how
will you be able to assist the other members become a better
Christian?

I would advise them to listen to themselves carefully and,

hopefully, recognize what they are doing and into. Of course, I'd answer
all of their questions, whether they were about religion or anything
else, simply to let them know that pastor Quiboloy is a fraud. Of course,
it is my desire for them to become Christian Catholics, but I will not
push them to do so. Because they have their own will, which I respect. I
simply want them to know that I care about them and their well-being,
but I'll accept their choices in the end.

4) Describe how you may be able to promote health, both physical &
mental, in midst of this covid-19 pandemic.

-Take into consideration the local government's health protocol
policies & the different pharmaceutical's medical discoveries.

Using the SOCIAL MEDIA, I can promote health, both physical and
mental, in the midst of this covid-19 epidemic, taking into account the
local government's health protocol regulations and the various
pharmaceutical's medical discoveries.

During COVID-19, the world realized that social media has evolved
into a SOURCE OF INFORMATION; COVID-19 was the first worldwide
pandemic in the era of social media, and since everyone is at home, I
can share postings on mental and physical health awareness with just
one tap.

The terrible thing is that in this time of pandemic, obtaining

reliable sources of information about our health was difficult. People
were scrambling for as much information as possible during the start of
the COVID-19 epidemic, according to an article I read on the internet,
and the public became more vulnerable to false and sometimes
dangerous statements, which were then passed on to others.

I'll simply make a note to distinguish between trustworthy and

untrustworthy sites anytime I post on mental health promotion, since
this is more crucial than ever.

During a pandemic, I'll keep reminding myself that the best rule of
thumb for ensuring that information on social media is reliable is to
verify original sources to ensure that (a) those sources are actually
trustworthy, and (b) the information was communicated properly. I'm
not going to publish or share anything on social media simply because

someone claims to have learnt something from a trustworthy source,
since it doesn't guarantee they're delivering the information correctly.

5) In the Philippine scenario, election '2022 will pose an extremely

serious challenge for all Filipinos.
-How may your social involvement in this eco- political endeavor be of
real help for the future of our nation?
The Church must remain apolitical in all of its operations,
particularly as Election 2022 approaches. Bishops, priests, and
seminarians, like as me, are all part of this group. But, in respect of the
inquiry, I'll respond in layman's terms. If I weren't a seminarian, I would
assist in the promotion of the candidate who I believe is the best. For
example, I am a strong supporter of Vice President Leni Robredo and
will participate in motorcades and other promotions to assist my
candidate win the election. I may also study my candidate's background
and accomplishments so that I can get to know her or him and
persuade others to join our cause. This is how I may participate socially
in the eco-political effort that we are now engaged in.
