·The health alert has broken out in the last few hours due to what
is known as monkepox, a rare disease caused by a virus
transmitted from animals to people.

So far there was not any serious monkeypox infection in

Europe and the United States, where the disease can pass
withaout problems in a few weeks.
The main symptoms and complications are high fever and
skin rashes that can appear all over the body, leaving posible
marks like those of chikenpox.
The transmission of the disease had initially been linked to
sexual relations between men, something that Darias has
ruled out, explaining that “it is a virus” and does not
correspond to the sexual typology.

Of the cases reported to date, 92 confirmed and 28 suspected,

it has not been posible to establish that any of those affected
have been in an endemic area for this disease.
Swiss health authorities reported the first case of monkeypox
derected in the country. The case was confirmed on Friday in
the central canton of Bern, in a person who was exposed to
the virus abroad, Swiss national televisió n RTS reported.
