Mercedes Benz Special Terms
4 General requirements
For safety requirements, homologation (in particular, exhaust emissions) and quality, the existing statutory
requirements and laws shall be complied with. In addition, the relevant requirements of Daimler AG apply.
All materials, procedures, processes, components, and systems shall conform to the current regulatory
(governmental) requirements regarding regulated substances and recyclability.
Upholstery fabric shall be free of production defects of any type which would impair the processing and
utilization properties or the appearance. It shall be capable of die-cutting, have good sewing properties
and be sufficiently slip resistant. The visible woven fabric distortion over the whole width shall not be more
than 1,5 %, i.e. maximum 1,5 % distortion over the whole width / over each part segment. The upholstery
fabric shall not change its dimensions in the warp or weft direction during storage or further processing by
more than 1% (e.g. no excessive wind-up tension).
For foam-laminated decorative fabrics, the adhesive laminating process shall be used.
The embossing of PV 35 shall be uniform and shall not change during storage or further processing. For
all upholstery materials the formation of ring marks following the application of distilled water and drying is
not acceptable.
The availability of a certificate of testing in accordance with the following method is specified as an over-
riding requirement for adherence to the emission values for interior materials: VDA 278; threshold values
for individual substances in accordance with DBL 8585.
The user is responsible for checking whether the version in his possession is the latest version. In particu-
lar in the case of substances listed in DBL 8585, the supplier is required to continuously minimize the con-
centration and emission at least in accordance with the state of the art, even when values have fallen be-
low the required DBL threshold values.
4.3 Width
In accordance with order (width tolerance +10/-2 mm, unless otherwise specified).
6 Technical data
Refer to Table 2.
7 Tests
Refer to DIN EN ISO (see Table 2) or DBL 5306 and DBL 5307.
7.2 More precise indication of color fastness (hot light fastness) and aging (hot light
aging) against artificial light at high temperatures in accordance with DIN EN ISO
105-B06
9 Samples
Refer to Mercedes-Benz Special Terms.
10 Deliveries
Refer to Mercedes-Benz Special Terms and DBL 5306.
11 Marking
Refer to Mercedes-Benz Special Terms and DBL 5306.
When changing production batches of the individual yarn components in the warp direction, the upholstery
fabric shall be identified in the warp direction on the reverse using an identification thread in a different
color. When changing production batches of the yarn components in the weft direction, the color of the
weft identification thread shall be changed. Where the color impression of the upholstery fabric changes
as a result of the weft production batch change, different color identification threads shall be used in weft
and warp. The weft identification thread shall also be used for assessing and measuring the skewed weft.
The identification threads running in the warp and weft direction shall be used throughout the piece length
and width and shall not be visible on the surface. The distance between the identification thread shall be
no more than 200 mm. When selecting and using the colored identification threads, care shall be taken to
ensure that a sufficient number is used and that the threads are clearly distinguishable / of a clearly rec-
ognizable color. The sequence of the identification thread colors used is optional; the threads should be
highly contrasting however, in case of change. Identical colors shall only be repeated in subsequent deliv-
eries once all colors have been used. Upholstery fabrics produced with identical color identification
threads shall be delivered consecutively and completely before a new identification thread is brought into
use. The relevant identification of the upholstery fabrics supplied shall be indicated in the delivery note.
- Laminated fabrics shall be identified using, for example, a 4-digit number combination
(e.g. 5123).
- The 4-digit number combination has the following meaning:
o the first two digits (e.g. 51) designate the color batch
(warp and/or weft thread change)
o the last two digits (e.g. 23) designate the laminating batch
