Q4. Defining of Stock Opening Balance.

Stock opening balance is nothing but an ' Opening Stock' or ' Beginning Inventory'. Opening stock may be defined as
an unsold stock at the beginning of the current accountinf period. The closing stock of the previous accounting period i s ~
forwarded to the current accounting period and is referred as opening stock of the current accounting period.
•Vide Opening stock comprises,
(i) Raw materials
(ii) Work-in-progress and
(iii) Finished goods.
ls is From the total stock, closing stock need to be subtracted to obtain the value of opening stock (or) stock opening balance.
The formula is as follows,
Opening Stock = Total Stock - Closing Stock .
If opening stock is more than the closing stock then it means :"at sales are more than the purchases in the accounnng
eriod. In case of perishable goods, high opening stock proves to be nsky.

item then it is not possib le to delete such UOM.

Stock Categ ories
Stock categories are an alternative classification of Stock groups are a collection of stock 1tetQ.\
stock items. which are similar in nature.
2. Im entory Stock Categories are not a part of inventory info Stock groups are one of the basic mventocy
menu. In order enable it Maintain stock categories masters in Tally.ERP 9.

Creati on Stock Catego ries can either be created in single as
weJJ as multip le group modes .
Deleti on Stock Categ ories canno t be deleted . ln order to
delete the stock category, the relevant sub category
and stock 1tems are to be delete d first.
Stock groups can be created in both single anc
multiple groups.
Stock Groups cannot be deleted, if is a parent
of any stock item or stock group. Moreo ,er, it
is not possible to delete the prima f) stock group
created by tally.
