Machine Installation Information

1: Installation Procedures 1

SECTION 1: INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

Part A: Customer Site Preparation
Alliance requests that the following items be completed by the customer
and/or qualified personnel prior to the installation of the equipment. This
will reduce the overall installation costs of the machine(s).

1. All equipment is to be unloaded from the delivery vehicle and moved

to the location in the plant where it is to be installed. Machinery
moving professionals should be used for unloading, moving and
placing the machine(s)
 Refer to Section 2, Part A for off-loading weight and dimensions.
 Refer to Section 1, Part D for the required and recommended
equipment to move and install the machine

2. The condition of the non-robot pad concrete floor should be as

follows:
a. Level and free of any debris
b. Have the ability to accept 7” anchor bolts
c. Equipment requiring pits (optional)
i. The pit should be to the specified dimensions and correct
orientation.
ii. Two-inch (50 mm) angle iron must be placed around the top
edge of the pit to provide a stable surface for mounting the
machine.

3. The recommended concrete specification of the robot pad should be

as follows:
a. Length: 1400mm (55 1/8”)
b. Width: 1400mm (55 1/8”)
c. Thickness: 218mm (8 9/16”)
d. Concrete Strength: 3500 psi
Note: The concrete pad needs to be symmetrical around the robot
base plate.

Machine Installation Information

1: Installation Procedures 2

4. The centerline for each machine should be determined and

permanently marked.
 Refer to Section 2, Part C floor plan for centerline locations.

5. All overhead obstructions should be removed to allow normal

operation of Alliance equipment (lights, plumbing, duct work, etc.)
 Refer to Section 2, Part C floor plan for individual machine
height requirements.

6. The air supplies should be routed and ready to install when the
machine is in place.
 Refer to Section 2, Part B for the air supply drop specification.
 Refer to Section 2, Part C floor plan for the air drop locations.

7. The electrical power should be routed and ready to install when the
machine is in place.
 Refer to Section 3, Part B for the electrical supply drop
specification.
 Refer to Section 2, Part C floor plan for the electrical supply drop
locations.

8. All machine interlock wire runs should be run and ready to terminate
when the machines are in place.
Refer to Section 3, Part B for interlock information

Part B: Alliance Supervised Installation

Alliance will complete the following items during the installation of the
equipment.

1. All equipment will be unpackaged under Alliance supervision to

verify all necessary parts and components have been shipped.

2. Each piece of equipment will be assembled, positioned at the correct

location, and anchored to the floor.
a. Day 1
i. Place and anchor the Robot Base (a full day is needed for
the chemical anchors to set before placing the robot on
the base).
ii. Place Bottom Sheet System and Bottom Sheet Conveyors

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Machine Installation Information

M-410iB/140H Robot Concrete Anchor Specification
Alliance Machine Systems International LLC
Document Number: G2028605

Concrete:

 The customer is responsible to provide a concrete pad for the robot. The concrete
pad must withstand the force and moments listed in table 1.2 and figure 1.2c. A
local concrete or civil engineer should be consulted to evaluate the thickness and
type of concrete required.
 The concrete pad must be level and flat. Do not provide leveling (with a wedge,
for example) between the robot base and floor plate. Otherwise, any robot
vibration may be accentuated due to the robot not being in close contact with the
floor.
 The concrete pad size is approximately 1400mm x 1400mm. Refer to the
Alliance floor plan for size and location.
 The concrete thickness must be greater than 218mm for proper anchor bolt
installation, refer to figure 1.2a.

Anchors:

 A total of 13 chemical anchor bolts are required. (M20, strength class 4.8,
170mm long) These are provided by Alliance.
 The robot mount provided by Alliance has a 38mm thick floor plate. 24mm
diameter holes for the M20 bolt will be drilled in the concrete in a pattern to
match the floor plate. Drill 22mm (7/8”) diameter holes for anchor bolts. The
holes should not be allowed to go all the way through the concrete pad because
the chemical bonding agent will run through it.
 Install the anchor bolts per the manufacturer instructions. The anchor bolt nuts
must be tightened to a torque of 186.2Nm (137 ft-lbs).
 Robot mounting bolts to base are M20x70 (8pcs) strength class 12.9 and must be
tightened to a torque of 529.2 Nm (390 ft-lbs).
