1 Overview
C911/C931/C941 is a tandem type LED electrophotographic A3Nobi color page printer having four or
five tandemly arranged color image drum cartridges in it.
The printer converts single-color images extracted from original computer text and graphics images
into optical pulses to write them on the surfaces of its optical drums. Dry toner selectively adheres on
the surfaces of image drums. Thus toner image forms on it. The toner images on the drum are
transferred to paper for printing. And toner image on paper is fused by the fuser in printer.
The light sources of C911/C931/C941 are light-emitting diode (LED) arrays.
This specification applies to the C911/C931/C941 LED A3Nobi color page printers (PDL type) aimed
at world-wide sales markets.
C911/C931/C941 are high-speed, high-image-quality, general-purpose printer that can be used for
various purposes, including graphic design, DTP and POP, as well as general office automation.

end and may be migrating to the intermittent printing of continuous printing . So as not to migrate as much as
possible in this intermittent printing , the panel "Menus" - “PrintAdjust” - You can choose the mode that dropped the
printing speed by selection in the "Paper speed narrow " . There is a "normal " and " slow" choices , respectively , is
a mode in which you want to print at (A4LEF(LetterLEF) conversion ) 40ppm, 35ppm. The default is "slow" .
However , very thin paper paper thicker than (UltraLight) ~ MediaWeight this mode is applicable only (Heavy).
( Note2 ) When equipment installation environment of <16℃, print speed is down . I shall be down to 40ppm in
A4LEF conversion (22ppm in A3 conversion, 39.5ppm in LetterLEF). However, Media Weight is only when "
MediumLight ( plain paper ) " setting " UltraLight ( very thin paper ) " - . For Auto, only if it detects the thickness of
UltraLight ~ MediumLight equivalent , it is assumed that the speed down as well.

3 If printing on the following paper, thoroughly test the print quality and paper feeding
performance ,and confirm that there are no problems before use.
Embossed, glossy or coated paper;
Note 1: The printer may produce a thin film of toner over heavy paper when it prints the
paper or, on heavy paper, may print images lighter than user-specified ones.
Note 2: Paper of which predominant fiber orientation is not vertical to its edge the printer
feeds first may be jammed in the printer.
Note 3: Paper that was once printed on an electrophotographic printer, thermal transfer
printer or ink-jet printer should not be used for the printer.

Glossy-finish paper can be fed only from a standard auto feeder tray or an MPT.
Glossy-finish paper meeting the following requirements should be used.
Glossy-finish paper must:
• Be made intended for use on electrophotographic printers or dry PPCs;
• Does not melt, change in quality, or warp, in printer thermal fusing processes; and
• Be 0.13 to 0.16 mm thick.
Note 1) In a high temperature and high humidity environment, a thin toner film is likely to
be printed on white print of glossy-finish paper and the paper cannot be used.
(The paper can be used in an environment below 25°C temperature and 60%
humidity.)
Note 2) Compared with plain paper, glossy-finish paper may often be printed with a thin
toner film over it, or may be printed with lighter images. Prior to use the paper, it
must be printed and checked for proper image quality printed on it, and for its
proper feedability.
Note 3) Glossy-finish paper may lower the fusibility of toner. Images deviated from
positions to print may be printed on lightweight glossy-finish paper.
Note 4) Glossy-finish paper may slip e.g. because of its coatings and not be fed.
The paper that can be fed from an MPT installed as standard in C911/C931/C941 is as
described below. The print media that can be fed from the auto feeder cassettes of the
printer can all be fed from the MPT. Besides, the MPT can feed postcards, labels and
envelopes.

6 Fonts
6.1 PCL Roman Font
6.1.1 Font Typs
The font is roughly divided into two types: Bitmap Font and Scalable Font (Outline Font).
(1) Bitmap Font
Bitmap Font is a character image that is digitized as is, into a bitmap pattern.
When enlarged, it looks jagged at the curves.
Portrait fonts can be rotated 90 degrees. In other words, Portrait, Landscape,
Reverse Portrait, and Reverse Landscape can be printed using the same character
pattern.
(2) Scalable Font
Scalable Font is a result of digitizing the coordinate positions of the outline
of a character image based on a certain mathematical formula.
A character image is generated by converting a scalable font to a bit-mapped
Pattern by the dedicated rasterizer before printing.
Scalable fonts, as their name suggests, can be freely enlarged/reduced
vertically or horizontally, and the curves do not look jagged. They can be
rotated at any angles and also flipped (mirror imaged).
Rasterization requires a longer processing time; thus, the characters converted
to bitmapped patterns are registered in the Cache memory.
6.1.2 Rasterizer
The rasterizer is a module that reads scalable font data and generates a bit-mapped pattern or
outline information according to the parameters such as scaling rates, rotational angles, etc. This
device uses Monotype Imaging-made UFST 6.3.
* Different versions of Font Rasterizer are used by PostScript Emulation and the other PDLs.
Bit-mapped patterns, generated by the rasterizer, are registered in the cache, and when the same
character of the same attributes is used next time, its corresponding bit-mapped pattern is copied
from the cache without using the raterizer. It not only registers scalable fonts but also stores the
bitmap fonts that are modified, for example, rotated.
45530603TX - 40/127
沖データ企業秘密・Oki Data CONFIDENTIAL
Pitch for Fixed Pitch fonts among the scalable fonts can be set in increments of 0.01 CPI.
Point Size for Proportional fonts can be set in increments of 0.25 point.

When any of the settings has been changed, EEROM is re-written when the Menu Select SW is
pressed;effectuating the changes in the current environment and its timing are as follows: (For details,
see the Valid column in Table 8.3.1).
Power Off/On: PW
JOB END:
During menu setup, a message will appear informing that any settings made will take effect after a job
in process is finished. If, however, the settings are switched in the menu operation while multiple jobs
are in process, it is difficult for one operator to definitely tell if one job has been finished or not.
Therefore, it is recommended that the menu setting be basically changed when the printer is in idle,
and in this case, the menu items noted as JE in the table will take effect at the same timing as those
noted as ET.
