Activity 6

Direction: The following are incidents about the performance of a learner. Provide
the appropriate feedback to each situation. Write the feedback to be communicated
to the child.

1. In a Grade 2 Mathematics class, a subtraction task is provided for a two-digit

number and a one digit number. The task given is 24 – 5 = ?, the child
subtracted 4 from 5 and brings down 2 resulting to the answer of 21.

What feedback will you provide?

- I will correct the child through repeating the solving of the subtraction
task again on the board without humiliating the child or lower his/her
confidence. I will discuss again the solution on how to solve the problem
in the correct and easier manner.

2. In a Grade 4 English class, the students are tasked to write an essay. One
pupil did not provide an indention in the first line of the composition.

What feedback will you provide?

- I will make a generalized reminder to the whole class that a proper
indention is required for the writing of essay composition. It's just a small
mistake and to have a generalized reminder, the child will not be
humiliated and pin-point on his/her mistake.

3. In a Grade 7 class, recitation was conducted on the topic of characteristics of

metals. One student was asked to give three characteristics of metals. The
student stood up and kept quiet for more than three minutes. The child is
taking too much time to provide the answer.

What feedback will you provide?

- Standing in front of the class to participate in the recitation whether you're
prepared or not is nerve wracking. If that is the scenario, then I will wait
until the student can come up with his/her idea completely. I'll just give
extra time for the child to digest the information and then share the child's
insight and information about the question. Consideration must be put in
mind because there are learners who can't digest information easily.

4. In a Filipino class for Grade 5, the students were tasked to write a letter to a
selected classmate. One student wrote complaints about the behavior of the
classmate. The student wrote in the letter bad words that hurt the classmate.
What feedback will you provide?
- I will call the attention of the student who wrote the complaints and I will
have a counseling on his/her complaints so that it will be addressed. I will
inform the class also that writing hurtful words to your classmates is not
ethical and can lessen the confidence of the person. They should be
reminded that they should be kind always in all ways.

5. In a Music class for Grade 7, each student rendered a solo song number in
front of the class accompanied by a piano. One student could not reach the
high not required in one line of the song.

What feedback will you provide?

What feedback will you provide?
- We would say that you did a good job with your solo a song number
presentation in class. However, despite having a clear voice when singing,
one of your classmates failed to achieve the song's high note. So just keep
working at it until you can hit the high note; don't let what happened
make you feel like you're not good enough. Since we are all human,
making mistakes is okay. What matters is that you will learn from them.
Just like it was said in the statement, "Keep Trying Until You Succeed."
